View Full Version : my computer has a ghost?

unless i turn the speakers completly off, i can always hear
music coming out of them, very quietly. i can turn the volume
up/down all the way on the speaker or in the computer, and it
is still the same very almost unhearable volume. there are no
open programs or anything like that open in the computer.
could it just be picking up on a local station somehow?
it is a fairly new, not sure of the model, three month old gateway.

If it's set up for wireless, it could be acting as a receiver. First thing I would do is check to see what type of sound card you have, then go to the manufacturer web site, and download the latest sound card driver.

"Ghost in the Machine" ?

They ought to name an album after that.................naaa.......it'd never sale !

Way back when I was into CB Radios, my next door neighbor had the $h*@,

(24 tube Elkin amp.......BIG WATTS) and co-faced Moon Rakers about 60 ' in the air.

I lived on the second floor, (next door), and with my stereo turned OFF, he would bleed over on the SPEAKERS, (with EVERYTHING turned off)

You couldn't really understand everything he was saying, but you could tell it was him.

Some of you old time CB'ers may remember him, K.W. (the "Killer Watt") was his around town handle, but when he talked "skip" he was "Santa Clause"

It wouldn't surprise me if he could have talked "skip" to California.

Hey John I think I know who your talking about.....I had a set up with a 5k amp on it and did the skip thing pretty often....I had to becareful about one direction ( had it mark on the router ) if it got pointed down the street there was a guy with a ghost in his garage door opener... dam thing would open and close all night until he unplugged it...........needless to say it took a long time to find the cause and I think that was just a sheet luck we where talking one morning (he was working on it) and I asked what time it was doing it and all of a sudden the light came on in my head......Funny thing is it never did it after that ......hehehehe
