View Full Version : Nikon d-80 question
I just got a d-80 to try to up the quality of my pictures for river ranch. I know this is a stoopid question, but as the camera saves the picture files it sequentially numbers them. then, if I delete the images from the camera after saving to my hard-drive, it will start over at dsc_0001 again.
Is there anyway to have it continue the numbering where it left off with the last picture? I had a couple hundred pics I started to save to my picture file on my hard-drive, but my comp wanted to overwrite all the previous pics due to having the same name.
thanks,
fish
BTW, I know I can manually rename them prior to moving, just that my old sony was smart enough to remember where it left off and I was hoping for ther nikon to be at least as smart.

On my D50 if you format the card IN THE CAMERA it remembers where you left off.

there is a menu setting to do as well.
there is a menu setting to do as well.
I looked through the menu for an option for this but could not find one, nor could I find anything in the manual. Any suggestions hsbob?
thanks again,

In the same menu where format is there is one fore 'file no seq". Off, on or reset.

thanks Joe and Greg for the help. I guess the default on the CSM setup menu is "simple" which does not give the option described above. Once I changed it to "full" there it was. Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the help. Hopefully I will get a few good shots at river ranch that I can post here.
thanks again,

Hey Fish, I'll have the D50 there too. We can take turns taking pictures of the drunks. I still only have my 18-55mm for drinkers & a 70-300mm for action. What lenses are you bringing?

Very early this morning I had to come back home because my dad had to be admitted into the hospital. So, the OSS race coverage for me is canceled.

I hope all goes well and you can still make it.

Just have the 15-55 and the 55-200 that came with it. I will have to save for a while before I can upgrade to more lenses, but this should be good practice.
Hope you can make it to river ranch Greg, it should be a great time.

Jody, keep the 55-200 on it for the boat passes and you'll be set. :)

Thank you for your thoughts on my dad, Yousif.
In answer to your question - yes, some Sigma lenses have focus issues with the D200. The good news is that Sigma has resolved the issue with their current models, and they can re-chip affected lenses to correct the problem.

going from 6 to 10 is nice, but not near as nice as the larger LCD monitor and viewfinder. wow what a difference they make! those two things alone made it worth it to me. all there other upgrades are just bonuses :D
