If we spent all our time worried about what COULD happen when we do ANYTHING it would be a pathetic miserable life to live.

Don't know, I always take a slow run to check water conditions first. You should be able to find you answer here, along with pictures.

Clear the course next time?? Wish you had a paddle?? Swim?? Ask the Copilot if they felt anything? Wonder where the motor went? Wish your boat wasn't a super light layup? Go to the hospital??
I give up.
What DO you do?

I hit a floating 2x4 with my old Hydrostream Voyager at about 70 mph. it just took some paint off of the front of the LU. the 2x4 was ripped in two. then the next week the LU blew.

Well there are variables!
If it's a Johnson, Evinrude, Yamaha! Nothing! Can't happen they don't run that fast.
Now mercury! In most cases it would bust the floating wood to pieces!:D
So at 90MPH everything is cool!!!!!;)

I bought a 13 foot Whaler from a kid who did pretty much the same thing, only he hit a boat on davits at speed. Took a chunk out of the front of the boat and sent him to the hospital. She had flased him while he was flying down a canal.

I caught a 20-24" long 2 x 10 on My Xb03 around 75mph one day back home.. I waz lucky,,I reckon I caught the board smack dabb in the middle and it musta been floatin fairly high in the water. The board road the top nose point of the sportmaster, went right up and stopped underneath the jackplate. It acted as a water brake of sorts... the bow dropped harder than it ever had during a blowout, I still had my foot in it. As I was stopping, like right now..... I waz roosting like all git out till I got off the gas. The boat stayed stright as an arrow throughout it all. My bud behind me damn near run me over.... he saw the roost and figgered I had nailed it, screwing with him or sumthing, he could'nt see me too good with all the water in tha air.

That was @ 95. Two in the boat. (STV RR) Me in the single front bucket, my buddy in rear bench.
I dropped down in my sent, puckered butt cheeks and held on. I was fine. (but sore for several days)
My buddy said he felt like he got dumped in a clothes dryer. Beat the schit out of him. (he limped, biatched and was sore for several wks.)
Broke the prop, broke all six bolt bosses out of bottom of mid, bent the prop shaft, broke the carrier, bent drive shaft and shift shaft at a 45* angle.
If you look close, you can see the back tip of mid still bolted to rear of l/u and another bolt/chunck stbd side of l/u right by water pump. ;)
Shift shaft is the only thing that saved the l/u.
BTW, we both had race vests on.
Did absolutely no damage to my STV motor board!
Here is the same l/u in current form.

Mine hit something at 90+ ,Lost a blade then the gearcase broke from the mid ,only think that kept it on was the shift shaft and the foil plate and it was a wild ride .

My friend Larry was running over 100 with a 24 Skater with 300x's when he hit something. He said the motor pegged the tach. He looked back to see his gearcase flying 100 yards through the air and narrowly missing a Hydrostream following him. He said it sheared off so fast that he never felt a thing other than the motor over reving. Tore off a bunch of the mid too. Cost the insurance co. over $9,000. Then they canceled him.
