water pressure gauge hook up

I hooked up my water pressure gauge and have very little pressure on the gauge when i ran it with the hose..Its on a 1987 merc 115 and i tapped it into the plug thats between #3 an 4 cyl. is this correct??? Loooking for some feed back.. Thank you

Inlines you should see about 7-8psi over 4,000. Theres little pressure below 2,500 2-4 psi and the water stream out the side should be consistant at idle. I replaced my impeller every year to be save. my motors run WOT most the time!
