Whats the difference between a dry speedo and a gps? i know a gps is hooked up by satelite and everything but according to readings what is the erros percentage in the dry speedo and the gps? Can a regular speedo by converted to a dry speedo?

Thanks,

Dry speedos are not very accurate. Now a properly calibrated liquid filled speedo can be very accurate.

Pitot style speedos measure speed differently than gps units do, I'm not talking about basic operartion, I assume you know the difference. A gps measures speed over ground. Example. Boat going down stream with a 2 mph current. Gps reads 100 mph. Boat turns around and runs up stream. Gps now reads 96 mph. The boat is actually traveling over water at 98 mph. A pitot style speedo (if accurate) will show 98 mph in both directions.

to answer your question again NO a regular speedo can NOT be converted into a GPS unit.

realistically it al;l depends on what you want....a water speedo is fine i have had both...its just not as consistent...and a water filled high quality speedo will cost just as much as a GPS speedo...GOT IT..lol:)

i told ya to give me a shout if you had any questions...:D

Ghost. The kid asked if "a reg. speedo can be converted to a dry speedo"....not a GPS.
