Will a standard 2.5 block fit a 240 efi sportjet or is there anything unique to the sportjet blocks? A friend decided to turn his inside out:rolleyes:
Thanks,
Alan:)

There's nothing unique about the blocks, but the crank splines are different. Some of the higher HP Sportjets were 3 liter. Are you sure they made a 240 horse 2.5 Sportjet??????????? I don't know for sure, but I thought they were 3 liters in that HP.

I crossed it over on Doug Russell and the 2000 model 240 SJ uses the same O-Ring head and sealing ring as my 2000 Model 200 EFI 2.5L.. The crankshaft is different though..
What happened to the 240?

Thanks raceman and rickster, I checked mercs site as I thought it might be a 3L too, I couldn't match it to any comparable outboard, it seems to be a 2.5 though.
Rickster, oil pump failed and it through a rod:( Possibly be looking for a block piston and rod in the near future.
Thanks guys,
Alan:cool:
