hey mike, are you a honda guy. i didnt think so, so beat it;). i say its impressive for what it is because i beat a lot of cars with the "whole motor"...i havent brought it to a track but ive beat or run with some fast cars on the highway now and then. one that comes to mind is a t/a ws6 like at100plus's. sometimes on the way to work at the crack of dawn i would run into this guy with a white one and we would run from 50-60 to 140 or so and would be neck and neck. i think thats impressive for a stock reliable 2.2l motor. i feel silly saying i beat a lot of mustang gt's because thats not much of a feat, but those guys always think i am an easy target. theres a lot of others but im not gonna name em all. when i add some boost and a lsd its gonna one fast little honda................davehttp://youtube.com/watch?v=Gp6Dl8bt8x8

when you get a high 12 second timeslip, then you can brag on how a car that had an ENGINE SWAP runs with STOCK WS6s.
its the right time of year for the 1/4, you have no excuses!!! :D

i didnt start the thread to brag about what i can run with. nor did i state my car was even close to running high 12's the way it is. i was simply looking to see if there were any s+f guys with any interest in hondas. to me,running with a stock ws6 with 150hp more than me was impressive. i guess your not so easily impressed. when i get enough time and money(my excuse) to get a 12 second slip youll be the first to know. it wont be this year, but it will happen................................dave

No stinkin' VTEC either.

Just an inline six of 1047cc's transversely mounted with a five speed.
Only 110hp @ 9500rpm.
Of course it is mounted in a bike though.....

odd thing is though, none of the I-4s in bikes sound like that. Must take a special breed to make an internal combustion engine sound that annoying. I wonder if they walk up to the counter and say "hey, do you have a muffler that sounds like my uncle after a bowl full of baked beans?"

HP per liter? ricer. since when has the street been displacement limited? now how about HP per lb, which is what really matters. mine makes 395hp and 400lb/ft of tq bone stock, more than you can dream about. Way to confirm the reason why everyone hates riceboys.

Its such comments like " I can run with ws6's" that make you look pretty bad considering you've never ran it at the track. I love going to the fart can boys at the track that have never run before and ask em what they predict. Most say high 12's and end up running a mid 14:rolleyes:

exactly my point. so, you can run with some WS6, i didnt ask that, I asked how fast it ran. that ws6 could be a 12 second M6 monster, or a worn out 150k mile automatic, but the clock never lies.
on the serious side, if that engine is in good condition then you should be fairly close to the 13s, but thats just an educated guess.

First is the '88 Golf that I had in high school, and will never part with.
Modified to the point that it's not legal with the emission laws that came to Ontario a few years ago...:( *the engine wasn't built to run on pump gas*
I buy a 10 day tempoary permit whenever I'm taking it to a show, so the VR6 is finally going into it this winter/spring.
The daily driver is a '95 Jetta GLX VR6 with no badges.
To look at it, nothing special. Nice and plain. Didn't even put tips on the exaust. All the mods are in the suspension, brakes, chip, intake, etc... Basic bolt on stuff for this one. If you know the VR6, the intake's roar makes it's statement loud and clear. No fart can required. ;)
The other one is an '86 Cabriolet, bone stock and about a 9 out of 10.
When the Golf's motor comes out, I'll put it in this one.
Luckily the cut off year for required emissions testing in Ontario is 1987 and newer vehicles.

The fact that you guys seem to think F-bodies are the be all/end all of cars really cracks me up. They're V8 econo-boxes made for hauing ass in a straight line, and that's really about it. Hardly a showpiece of automotive technology at it finest.
Been there, done that with the Fox Body Mustangs years before the "Era of the Ricer" (late 80's/early 90's). Ya, you can easily make them run 12's all day long, but other than straight line these cars are pretty much useless.
Do they corner well? Nope! Do they stop well? Nope! Are they in any way refined? Hell no! Will I buy/build another one someday? Absolutely!!!:p
You can pick up a early 90's Camaro or Mustang for about what I paid for the rims and brakes on my Jetta this time of year. So I will do the Pony thing again I'm sure when I have more available time.

even one of those "cheap pos" third gen IROCs can pull .88-.9Gs. Thats what a car can do when the right wheels are driven and it has almost 50/50 weight balance.

Although I think arguing about who's car is faster and whose a ricer and what not on the internet is completely stupid, its is fun to read! Who's got that picture that says arguing on the internet is kind of like competing in the special olympics, it doesn't matter who wins, your still retarded... wow, Im going to hell....
I guess I feel that getting a 2liter into the 12's is still damn fun, my next project car will definately be something v8... I've been throwing around the idea of dropping a mild v8 into my stock 2000 s10 when the 2.2l ****s out on me. I think that would be a good sleeper.
Also, owning a dsm, and having me and my group of car guys still make fun of ricers, I think a ricer is more of an attitude towards your car. I have seen plenty of v8 ricers, putting wings, body kits, stickers and gauges when they are totally unneccesary, but I do agree that the import crowd tends to do this probably 10:1 vs. the v8 crowd. I just think people are too quick to label someone that takes pride in modifying (the right way) their import a ricer. Damn ricers always giving the fast imports a bad name:)

I know this sounds lame, but I have a few friends that run imports. one has a turbo h22a in a 95 hatchback civic, another has a STi. the difference between ricers and guys like them, If someone asked that question (how fast is it) to before they had taken it to the track, they would have said something like "havent taken it to the track, but im hoping for xx.xx time" not "but i beat WS6s all teh time!!11"
whatever cars you like, cant argue with a factory turbo'd AWD or RWD. badass rides, and about the only imports that respond to the $$ per HP as well as a v8 car. I was seriously thinking about doing another RX7 with a turbo 4.3 instead of swapping in V8s like I did in HS, but really the attitudes of most of these guys make me not want to associate with anything to do with them.

Here's the old Capri that I built up years ago with a couple buddies.
Started it's life as a 6cyl auto, with plad seats and a sweet woodgrain dash.
Full tear down and rebuild that took about a year to complete in our spare time. At the point of completion you'd have a hard time noticing the Capri hiding underneath with the exception of the wide rear wheel arches.
Far from the fastest thing on the road, but it was a lot of fun. Still have a posi rear end, and A-arms, spindles, etc... from a '95 Cobra, so I will do it again... Blue Oval, better attack 1Bad...

im not sure what your saying about the german cars, id never own a volkswagen but if i had the dough i would probably have a sick porsche in the garage, hmmmm or maybe an nsx. one thing thats cool about my car is the suprise factor. who would think pulling up to this that it is even remotely fast. my buddys got a nice 01 s4, youll probably like this vwfreakhttp://youtube.com/watch_fullscreen?video_id=s_CWnSiJpJ0&l=100&t=OEgsToPDskLgsq2mbiQYmgmPxLBjT0oV&s=07C01E8857FE1EF8:712F7FA74CDA1D31&fs=1&title=90%20h22%20prelude%20vs%2001%20audi%20s4http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m100/live2ride31/lude.jpg

btw......i know this is really gonna piss some people off, but i pulled away from a brand new stang gt from about 40-110 on saturday. at first i was going to stop and ask him to meet up at the closest track to us in n.y. on wednesday night to race but then i just decided to put it in 2nd and go for it right there. i honestly thought he was gonna win, maybe he coulda downshifted 1 more gear and just underestimated the lude. all i know is he was a sore loser and didnt want to try again. 1bad do you have relatives up here?

I figured the bashing had slowed so I would post my honda hot rod and a few other go fast street rides.
Honda 1990 crx hf lightest of the crx
Mods forged 2.0 liter swap with ported b16 head, 10 to 1 compression Skunk 2 cams ported type r manifold and hondata tuning.
All motor 1/4 mile times on 22" slicks
11.40s at 122 mph And still passes emissions and gets 25+mpg
I also have a Gmc sonoma with all the hardware it does not pass emissions or gas stations. But it is a rush 1/4 mile 9.20s at 145+ or 5.90 in the 1/8 mile with mufflers and no trailer queen I drive to the track on ET streets.
Okay last is a 99frc corvette with 500rwhp ls1 stock short block.
I am hoping for high 10s in the 1/4 the track is closed here till feb.
I am not a ricer but I do like engines that make great power.
Here are a few pictures.

thats a nice mix of cars you got there. should i even ask if there are any bikes in that garage of yours. thats one quick n/a crx, it must be a lot of fun drivin that little sleeper around. how much power is that setup making? and how much of a shot does it take to get the sonoma going that fast?
btw, thanks for finally posting something thats on topic. i think your the first one with an actual picture of their honda..........................dave

crx made 360+ at 9500rpm at the crankshaft.;)
Sonoma gets a 275 shot of gas.:D
sold my Busa last spring.
K-series honda motors are the way to go now.
Building a 2.3 that should make 450+ on pump gas and get 30+ mpg.
The type-s cylinder head flows over 350 cfm at .500 lift ported.
The new variable valve timing on k-motors helps make for some good torque to.
Ricers and most of the younger generation have given Honda a bad rap.

im sorry but i dont see the point of trying to make a 4 cylinder car fast. If u wanna go fast u buy a ls6 chevelle 454 or a 440 6 pack roadrunner american cars, and hey if u crash they dont fold up like and acordian :D
P man
01-07-2007, 05:53 PM
Ill tell you why.
A) They can go fast ANNNNNND turn
B) I dont know about you but I much rather be in a modern import for a collision then a chevelle lol

So You Think It Would Be Cool If Everyone Had The Same Cars? That Sounds Great But Ill Stick With The Prelude For Now. All You Haters Might As Well Get Over This Import Thing Because They Arent Going Anywhere. Theyre Just Getting Faster And Faster, And More Popular. Im Also Gonna Let You In On A Little Secret Some Of You True Patriots Might Not Know. Import Doesnt Always Mean Fwd, But Even Still There Are Fwd Cars In The 7's Now.

You don't see the point? It seems pretty clear. But why would you buy an ls6 and mod it to make as fast as some of these cars? That's alot of $$ you're messing with! You could just buy a Z06 if you're in that income bracket. And you must be kidding about crash safety!!

so according to you
#1 american cars can only do burnouts and none of them handle well []
#2 domestic drivers only buy domestic because they are made here []
#3 you buy an import to be an individual, but then state that everyone is buying imports and they are popular [ ]
#4 domestic drivers think every import is a FWD [  ]
#5 all out unlimited drag cars running 7's is something to write home about

well i guess you showed me, im really dissapointed i didnt make your list of enthusiasts. did you come up with that all by yourself? i bet all the guys that made it were really excited to see they made the cut.
btw i know you know little about imports but there are very few 3rd gen preludes anywhere that can move like mine. i didnt buy it to be different, i just had a car that i liked and wanted to make it faster. but i do like the fact that im the only one around here with one.

i used to have a prelude sir. had it for 6 weeks then sold it. too slow.personally, i cant stand ricers or imports, but theres a couple out there that are makin some serious power. nuthn like 800 horses, but power:weight aint bad.. now im rollin in a 83' mercedes with a 3.0L turbocharged diesel 5 cylinder. GVWR 4585. im probably somewhere around 150 horses an 200 ft/lbs of torque. probably about 17-18 second 1/4 mi. i'd rather push my 2 ton tank across the finish line than drive a honda.

I love these old threads :)
Why would i want to run consistent 10's and high 140's in a honda? Because when done properly they don't break. And they show higher trap speeds then RWD at the same ET. and who doesnt love the sound of a 70mm turbo pushing 30 lbs through the TB of a 1.9 liter motor spinning at 10k rpm. o_O
Maybe the 10 point cage will avoid the acordian look.
