2.5 or 3.0?

I bought a boat with what was supposed to be a '99 2.5L 200 hp Mercury. I ran the #'s on the freeze plug OG088763 and it says 3.0L 225 or 250. How can I tell? Is the 3.0L a good motor.

Well hate to break the news buts its a 2.5 efi 200 engine
