Just bought a spare standard bore block for my Yammi 40. I wanted you guys opinions on long term storage. Hopefully I wont need it anytime soon. Should I oil it down very good and place it in a cardboard box and seal with tape? Do you think this would be good enough to keep moisture and humidity from starting to rust it? Any input will be appreciated.

Blake,
when I store a bare steel bore block I coat the cylinders down good with some oil and then put the block in a plastic bag with a small vent hole poked in it. I haven't had any issues so far. If you coat it good you can probably get by with it in a box.
Just try and store it in a good dry place, maybe somewhere inside where you don't have any moisture issues. Shoot, sit it on the dresser by the TV.

I dont think the dresser thing will fly wth the woman. Thanks Michael. My concern is storing it in my shop at the house and I do alot of welding, grinding, some wood working, etc. in there so I dont want nothing getting in it. Good idea with the bag, didnt think of that. I may just build a wood box and sit it in there.

Oh, I'm going to try to start building outboard stands on the side. Hopefull to sell a few to marine shops around here. Let me know if you need any. I need to get the bolt pattern for a v6 so they will fit the smaller motors on up.they will be mobile instead of stationary so you can wheel them out the way.

That's a good idea to do it on the side I'm sure you can sell some.

I spray the cylinders down with fluid film. Fluid film is a thicker oil that doesn't run no matter which way you set the block down. Then cover it in plastic wrap. You can get huge rolls of it from grocery stores or the butcher.
