I want to buy a v4. The seller says that the motor is from around 96/97. But i wrote the motornumer down. I looked it and it says that she is from '88 but i can hardly believe it. Maybe I wrote it down wrong.. IS here anybody who has a picture off a '98 and a '88 ? Please help me...

Is this an OMC (Johnson,Evinrude) or something else? If its a Johnson I think an 88 would be white with black stickers. The Evinrude is medium blue I think????? The later omc is a dark blue.Best to post the Serial #s and I'm sure someone on here can let you know.

I'm not 100%,I think the cowl is a later model but that doesn't mean the powerhead is.

You can tell what year the motor is by checking the model number. OMC used the INTRODUCES system where I=1 N=2 T=3 etc. For example an 88 would read CC in the model number. My 2000 is an SS. Now that's just the year on the mid section. The power head might have been replaced. Just tryin' to help.

That is a 60 degree motor, right? Best to post the model number.

The motor number says it's a '88. But the design off the motor looks younger.. I've been looking after a number on the bracket but i think there is not one.

That looks like a 1988ish to me. With the color and the raised cowl emblems it's definately older. Any of the newer motors used flat vyl. decals on the cowls.

The number should also be stamped on the welch plugs at the back of the power head between the two cylinder banks
