what the hell is the deal with the rubber grommits on the 280 skirts? mine keep pulling through , is there another way to hold it on !....those things suck !

Common problem...not sure the fix though???

SS locknuts, bolts, and rubber washers between the 2 plastic parts. or you could use wellnuts. or grommits and blind nuts.

mine is tight as hell, but from what I hear the grommits get loose after they are taken apart.

I guess so, mine has never been apart and its tight as anything. Maybe he should try some factory pieces on there?

the rubber grommits are wellnuts. merc charges a couple bucks apiece for them, i buy the at lowes in a pack of two for a buck and change. had the same problem as parker, used large stainless fender washers and nylock nuts to keep from losing another skirt and been good for a year so far. good luck!mt

OK, Hammer Down, I showed you at Blingfest! But we will leave it at that!


On the skirt!

Pull the rubbers out.

Take a bolt with 2 washers and a lock nut.

Place the bolt up in the cover from the bottom up.
Taking the lock nut and tighting it to make a stud pointing in the up dirrection. In the Shirt.


Then as you place the skirt up to the bottom part of the pan, the Bolts(ie studs) will come up. Put anouther Washer and locknut and walla!

I will take picks if your party ass can not remember!

I used to have a girlfirend that kept happening to. That's why I got rid of her...lol I don't know nothing about 280 skirts but I couldn't resist a reply.

You guys have got to pay attention to how you title your threads. Parker has his skirts falling off and the other day I see one that says"How to tell when you are too high". Turns out you are both talking about boats.
