i now have 3 different prop test under my belt. im wondering where to go next.
stock 2.4 200 carb
26P laserII 6400-6500 @ 78 mph stock 2" below
28P merc chopper 6300-6400 @ 78 mph polished w/ cup 1" below
29P mazco re3 6200 @ 80.6 mph polished w/ cup even
both the mazco and merc chopper produced alot of lift. the mazco had more. all of them have great acceleration.
i am sure the mazco had a CH more left in it. what should i look for now?

Those are some really good #'s have you run them in a slip calculator???

yeah the laserII comes out @ 7.xx %
the merc chopper @ 12.xx %
the mazco @ 11.xx %
i have been told to have the laserII worked on since it is stock. i wonder if i would gain slip in doing so.

28 yammy drag worked for top end and a 30 ET.Add some compression.Get the heads shaved more or if they are stock get thenm down to like 31 cc or so.You want to get as close to 150 lbs per cyl.Run 93 octain and maybe raise the motor 1/2":)Maybe try some Zero weight gear lub.

The Hoss Triton is supposed to be the prop for fast V hulls. Call them and you will find they are very helpful. I have a 30 if you want to try it and maybe buy? Love the prop but I need a 32 for my setup.

If you still have the 30 Triton in May, I'd like to try it, and buy if it works for me. For me the season's over.

Have you ever tried unpolished props ? I have seen some very extensive testing of polished props vs. satin props and the satin props win out !(typical .5mph) I personally have run a polished 25 Tempest and a Mirage Plus 25 the EXACT same props in satin ran 50-75 rpms more and along with that faster. Same principal as a waxed hull vs. one that has been wetsanded ?

Yep it should be hanging around.
As for the season being over, mine should be but I have to many new toys to try out on my boat. No way would I make it till spring without going crazy.
BTW thanks for the shipping offer on the DR4. Also if in the area let me know. I might be convinced to run anytime between now and Halloween.

thanks for the offer. unfortunatly i do not have the funds to purchase a prop yet this season. i was leaning toward a hoss or an ET. i would like to get ahold of one to try this season. i figure i could jack it up another half inch and try a 30.
heads are stock right now. if i have them cut down, how many rpm's could be picked up without losing reliability?

Have you ever tried an SRX prop? I have a 27 that is really fast....they also make a 29 SRX.

An SRX would be a good option.....and it ain't gonna crack like a Mazco. I either cracked or broke every Mazco 29p I ever owned. Great performing prop but the SRX 29p worked just as well. And they're cheap!

ILLmatic,
I'm just about out of boat cash too..
I should be getting my Spinelli DR4 any day now. If it works out I can send the Hoss up to you for a few runs. No strings attached. It's my main prop for now....Maybe next week I can send it.
PM with address and contact info if you want to try it.

well i tried kens 30" hoss. i was able to run it up to 81.7 MPH @ 6400 rpm. i jacked the engine up 1/2". at this height im getting 15% slip. i may lower it a bit back down to even with the bottom to see what happens.
running for any extended time at 6400+ rpm i start to starve for fuel. i want to get back down to 6200 or so.
