I have 1992 2.5 Merc carb motors on my boat. One motor always fires right up and the other motor is sometimes difficult to start. Never a problem on the trailer, only in the water.
This is just a theory, but I am thinking that one motor may have an above water exhaust relief hole near the exhaust can flange and the other may not or if it does, it may be plugged. Is there an above the water relief hole in the exhaust can from the factory? If so, is it on the front or back. Would this help?
