so i finaly have some results from my prop change. im not too exited.

for the past two years i have been running a 26P laserII at about 2" below the pad w/ 5" setback. i was running 77.8 all day long at 6400 rpm. hole shot was phenomenal and pulled all the way up. i have been sittin on a fully polished merc 28P chopper with a bit of a cup for a year now. i finaly installed a lwpu and the chopper a couple weeks ago.

i raised the engine to about 1" below. i still turn 6300-6400 and can still only hit 78 even on gps. hole shot is not as nice but mid range in way better. 1/2" below netted no more top end but less hole shot.

all i want to do this season is hit 80 and i will be happy.

are there any other props i should try without breaking the bank?

would 2" below be too low for this prop?

i have run it at 1/2" below with no gain over 1" below. i guess i could try it even with the bottom. i just dont want to turn anymore rpms than 6400. i have an all stock '86 2.4.

what other props are more efficiant than my merc chopper?

Send the LaserII to Billy at Performance Propeller, Soddy Daisy Tenn,

Ask him to work it, little more cup, thin it and sharpin the leading edge.

You will see a differance.

I ran thet Prop on my Tidecraft, the one he worked was amazing!

Try a 28 raker. If it works and needs little to no trim then jack it till the water pressure gauge says stop.

i have not but i have been following the thread about them.

i have access to a 29" mazco 3 blade. i am going to jack it up and try this one. it pushed my friends mirage to 103.

A laserII can be tweaked to run better than the Merc Tempest, which is a fast prop in stock form. I have a feeling that the 29 Mazco ain't gonna turn the rpm's you need and be a dog outta the hole. See if you can find a Tempest to borrow in 26-27pitch. Trophy is also an excellent choice and are fast.
