What are you guys running on your Vectors? Choppers or Cleavers? I had a top speed pass of 81 MPH @ 6100 with me & a passenger two weeks before the Central Florida Rally @ Alligator Lake. This was with a perfect stock 28P big ear Merc chopper II. Then getting speed greedy, I had some more cup put in my prop & lost 5MPH and 300 RPM. Every Vector at Alligator was wingin' by me, even a Mariner 150 passed me!!! I got a fresh stock 200 2.4 Am I runnin the wrong prop or what?
Whatta you guys runnin' on the Vectors for these speeds?

I had a hydrostream v-king w/ '84 200 merc. and the fastest prop I have ever ran on the boat was a 14x 28'' pitch merc cleaver @6800 rpm. prop shaft 1/2'' blelow the bottom. This was a v-king and not a vecter., but I think that they both run about the same top speeds . I think that the top speed was close to 95mph on the gun.. Hope that this helps ..........
BMAC,
I run 28"Mazco RE4 and a 30" chopper on my 81 Vector with 81' 225 Merc. Speeds are 80mph with the RE4 and 85+ with the chopper. I tried a couple of cleavers last year with little success (felt like too much stern lift and was a handful to drive). However I did not have a torque tab on my CLE at the time which could have been the problem. Now I have a modified CLE w/ Torque tab and will try my luck again with a cleaver this spring.

OOOHH BLs White MOTA freakin you out alittle?
Watch out if he decided to put some compresion to that thing...
I ran both 27 and 29 DAH SRXs. The 27 was a great hole shot wheel and the 29 ... well if I could have driven it I may have gotten past 100...

bmac, my viking runs well with 28 big ear chopper, 28 yamaha, 29 mazco, 29 srx worked by mazco, and a 26 hackney et copy. the last one turns the lips off the engine. over 8400 rpm, with the 28 yam at 7800 rpm. all will run boat 80couple to 90 mph.
i got a 14.5 cleaver 28 pitch, lab cut but the boat will carry better with round ear wheels.
my hydrostream was the red and white with checker flag down side at alligator.

Before I tore mine apart, I ran a 29" SRX on a box stock XR-4 150 Merc w/2:1 gears @6200 and 75 on GPS.
With the 2:1's the thing actually launched good, and at speed, it flew very nice.
From what I have heard and read though, if you get a Vector to warp speed (100+), you are running a Cleaver.
I think every one I've seen over 110 has run one.

I have a vector with a Mariner 135+, a few mods. I run a 28 Spinelli at 6500 and the gps, not a speedo said 76.2. I have nver run a cleaver but would like to try on. My 2 cents. JOdy

Ran a Vector w/ '81 235 Johnson. Used my 29 SRX (never worked still black). Pulled 6500-6700 rpms. No speedo or gps had to be doing 85. Ran like a dream. Ran w/ pass. in boat. AnthonySS used to run a 30 cleaver on the Vision that Glenn now owns. With an '85 150 XR2 it would touch 80(Medallion Speedo so maybe hi 70s) @6200. Glenn gets 73 gps w/ 26 chopper no nose cone 6000+ (needs a new tach).
Note: the Vision hull is different. It has a wider pad w/ no concave in it. In the hi 70s this hull requires your full attention. The Vector is probably a better running hull. Keep in mind that the Vetor was designed long before the V6 motor was a reality. Hard to believe, but the Viking (V-King in Canada) was designed for the then new V6s. But most S & F ers already now this. Drove a Viper yers ago w/140 Tower (black stack from Fond du Lac) at about 70. Nicely balanced with the lighter tower on the back.
Sorry for rambling.
