Jasper River Run And Party

Friday October 13 at noon CST. we will leave from the Shellmound boat ramp. Shellmound is off I24 on exit 158. If you are west bound on 24 get off and go left at the bottom of the ramp. East bound turn right. You will go about a mile look for boat ramp marker. The ramp is on the left. Chattanooga is about 40 miles to the north. Gas is avalible there but it is 87 octane. Some folks will go all the way up and some will hang out in the canyon and then return. The party this year is at the Anchor Inn. When you leave the race site turn right and go across the bridge. They are the 1st place on the left. They are providing a shuttle service to the motels and campground if anyone needs it. Chip Wampler has lined up the bands and the Bud tent. The BBQ guy will be there selling plates again. Hope a lot of you folks can make it this year!

Some of us are going to tie up at downtown Chattanooga and go up and eat lunch at a Mexican restaurant if anyone is interested. As long as you bring rope and boat bumpers to tie up you'll be fine.

We will be there again this year. I hope the weather is better than last few years. We are going to bring both boats this year. 30 gallon tank in the Ally will be plenty, but we will carry extra gas in both boats to feed the BP.

Are there other places to run the boats other than Friday? A couple of us from Canada were thinking of towing down, but 10 tow down to boat 1 day doesn't seem worth it. Also, if there is no place to run on the weekend are the boats usually safe at a hotel?

There are some of us that plan on running more than just Friday, I am not going to tow up for just one day. There is some offshore races going on up river from Jasper that I thought about checking out.

Dreamer there is usually a bunch of boats at the hotels, yours would be fine. It's a long tow though just to cruise around. All day sat and sun morn will be good racing. I would not even consider takin my boat down unless I was racing it or someone was coming to buy it.

22-23 Gallions Round Trip Is Fine. If You Are Worried About Put A 2 Gallion Tank In The Back Storage Area. Or One On Each Side.

We'll all be leaving around noon Japser time and we'll be at the same ramp as last year. I burned around 28 gals with a 300X/20CC Bullet 2 years ago, but we ran at WOT most of the run. I'm not going to run my Drag engine hard at all unless Rodney picks on me...LOL.

I thaink I can handle that. With the gas bill for boat and truck there Friday and the fun to have want to make sure I'll have enough to come back Saturday. Laid off and the funds are not what they used to be. My son is 5 and he loves boats and my dad is 55 and has never seen an outboard boat race.

Oh my God..... Anyone traveling down I-24 EAST towards Chattanooga TODAY (Thursday)... When you get about an hour and a half from Jasper, the interstate is shut down. A tanker truck over turned and spilled chemicals so they shut down a 15 mile stretch of 24 both directions. I'm sure it'll be opened later this afternoon, but thought i'd throw a heads up. It is being detoured so it isn't at just a stand-still.

I think around noon-ish the run will get started... thats how it was last year anyways. Can't wait :)
