Mike,, We'd love to have come play with us at the cove,,,,,,,,,,:) Sorry things aren't going to work out this season....But "Smokin in the Cove" is NOT the place to LEARN to Rope race anyways!! The guys that show up for the race,, are the "BEST DAMN BRACKET RACERS" in the Country!!!!! When you have to run a .050 or better in ANY of the class's to qualifiy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that's some tuff competition!!!!!!!!!!

The way to learn to play this game,,,is to come race a few race's with SDBA! :D We have a couple of race's that have friday set aside for Test and tune,, you you can practice ALL you want that day... or as many times as you can your boat back to the rope!!! Just liet me know next season,, and we'll help ya'll get lined out! The first race in Waco, ALWAYS has a T&T!!!!;)

I'ma the Outbaord rep again next season,,so if ANY of you guys want to try the rope,, Give me a shout,,,, and I'll help you all that I can!!!:D

I'm not quite an A-boat driver,,, But I'm going to give them BB's hell in the 8 second class!!!

News I heard from the cove was the storm that went thru there thursday night wiped out the timing system and it was after lunch before they started q'fying, that will make it rough on getting tuned into the 1000' course to make the show.

The Cut off for the top 16 in the 8 second class was 8.077! That's right,,, If don't run an ".0" something you were either in second chance (where we were #24th!) or parked on the trailer........:( There were 33 boats in the 8's!!!!!!!!

Denise Hodges WON the 9 second class!!!!:D

I think Dallas Colier of Temptation racing won the 7's.....

I realy enjoyed the whole event. A very good race site. My goal was to just qualify and we ended up 6th in qualifying. It was a pleasure to race with some of the best "rope racers" in the country. It was good to see all the Scream and Fly members, and meet some new ones. We will definiteley go back next year.

712-11A - you burning a little cold there on the rope bud ? ? hehe -- or iz that called "Smokin tha' Competition"? ? LOL ! ! Or just" Smokin' UP Da' Cove"

712-34A -- Little Yellow capsule OB --- looks like the driver ain't got no noggin' cover on ? ?

712-34A --- the White bottomed Hydrostream --- Iz he leaving with a little much trim or just the way it launches? Sticker washin' iz fun... funner to watch from tha bank tho'...

Thanks, Russ

Pic 711-27 is Mel Smith in a Tidecraft bassboat that has been decked over. I think they used a portion of an Allison Drag deck to start with. At least that is what it appeared to be. That boat runs pretty good. I think he has done well with it from what I was told

The little yellow hydro with the capsule is Jim Dunn. I'm sure he has a helmet on. That boat is one of the most consistent running drag boats in the country. Jim has definitely got his stuff together with that thing.

I'm not sure what the deal was with that Venom when it launched, they said it was headed toward the bank. I think that is (Venom280). Maybe he can elaborate. I know it did run good and looked good on the water.

Hey Rocket,
I hate I didn't make it by your pit to say hello. We were busy trying to figure out what we needed to do to run that magic number. I think the closest I got to ya was when we were paired in qualifying on Sat. afternoon. I enjoyed the event and will be there next year if nothing stupid happens. Oh and not that it really matters but pic 714-19A is Jim Dunn in "Mojo".

Al,
Too bad the ol' TC's that Chicky Boy sold didn't look like Mell's or you know we would have bought one. Just can't get a T-motor and a butt seat on the front.

Gotcha..!

That Tidcraft is a sharp lookin hull, definately different, but that's what earns a builders a good reputation....

If they are smoking, they are happy,,, I got the same issue on rope starts out here with cold air and water temps. NOt much time allowed for warming her up...

It looks like the Pugh driver may have been leaving so hard hiz 1/2 face bucket mighta slid back on hiz noggin... :) lots of forehead showing.... those are bad azzed lil' rides no doubt !

Venom told me a while back he waz playing with a new juice setup,,, I guess he's squeezing her purdy good.

I wish I coulda made it up there this year, if nuthin else but to set on tha bank. I talked to Jay yesterday, he said ya'll were as tight a group as ever been. Lots to close racing. Looks to have been a good time to be had.

thanks, Russ

Well, we did have boats built by Mel, but if Chick had that model we could not afford it.
That man made a tone of money off of us!
Makes me sick to think back at the money.

But we had a lot of TC's in Orangeburg! I wish we could find that video tape of us out at Lake Murry, we had about 20 of them out. And that was not even close to all of them.

Russ,, When the top 16 boats to qualify are all under a .077 you get bet your G-string things are tight! At SITC if you can't run a .0something ,,,,then you will me sitting on the bank on Sunday!!!! :( We qualified 24th with a .213,,,,,,,,out of 33 boats,,, if we would have had one more shot at it,, we might have pulled out a .0something.............. But we will be back next year to give them boys hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

If you ever get the urg to make it to an SDBA race or the Cove,, be sure and hook up with us,, we'll give you Food and Drink!!!!!!!!!!:)
