im changing the crank on 2.4 using 2.0 crank. can i use the bearings from the 2.4 crank on the 2.0 crank the rods are the same from the 2.4

The rod bearings are the same. Is the top main journal the same size as the 2.4 crank? If its larger then you need the bigger bearing there and the two center mains side thrust against the crank so those bearing will also need to be changed.

my 2.0 cranks bearings are all good top bottom and two centers ,and they match the block . i was concerned useing the rod bearings that were broke into another crank (from my 2.4 crank ) , and now are hopfully going to work on my 2.0 crank with im told is identical to my 2.4 (exept for top bearing which when bad on my 2.4 crank any way) i guess a roller engine like outboard two strokes , are i little different then say a car engine because they use bushings and have to be exact .

I am talking about the top main journal size not the block.

I am talking about the top main journal size not the block. you are right the 2.0 crank is a 1/4" larger on the top bearing . (the bearing that comes with the 2.0 makes up the difference and still fits in the block ) you are right in that the the bearing is not the same size !!!!!!! back to the rods they are the same size to the naked eye and i torqued the rod bolts and the crank turns free . will there be a problem without mic checking them ?????????????? is there even a mic check requirement on a roller bearing motor ??????????????

No mic checks. The rods will be fine but you can not run the two center main bearings form the 2.4 on the 2.0L crank. You will need the 2.0L center main bearings too. Even though they look like they fit they are wrong.

That all sounds good.

I would not install used bearings on a different crank, but then again I wouldn't install used bearings even if it was the same crank, they're a lot cheaper than blocks, rods etc...

My thoughts exactly. The bottom end is no place to try to save cash. Those bearings are not that expensive.

i will check the prices . i know that the bearings looked to be in very good shape .

Look at them under a microscope, don’t waist your money. If the bearings need replacing the rods and crank should also be replaced. Call Jay Smith and get a second opinion.

I will second that about bearings.......:D I would rather use old ones more than poor ones. It is more important to use Red loctiet than any other part.:p

i think i will use the old ones they all look very good . a full set of bearing for the whole motor is about a $1000.00 bucks from doug russel . and i am really looking for a 2.5 liter for some more speed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LeeBuilt many motors in my time, although not as many as Jay and John. I have reused bearings as long as they look fine more times than not and have NEVER had a problem. As they said ,if the bearings are worn out then you better look at replacing the crank and the rods to cause there is going to be wear there also.I think you will be just fine.Hydro
