Just replaced water pump on lower unit I just got. However it does not pump water. Lower unit is I believe a Merc unit. It has two holes for low water pick up and it has two plates with rubber o rings on both sides at the top of the gear case. These two plates appear to be the water passage from the low water pick up to the water pump. I sprayed both of these plates with soapy water and blew air into the low water pick up. Both plates leak. I sealed the plates last night with silicone. I have not had a chance to reinstall my lower. Just wondering if this is why it wouldn't pump water? Can anyone put a name to this lower? Thanks Mike
