does anyone know the best way to remove antifowling paint without damageing the gell coat . I am in the process of using a paint stripper , applying a section of stripper for 45 minutes and than power washing the area than wet sanding with 220 grit sand paper .

Sounds good. Another procedure I have seen used is the paint remover & kraft paper technique. Apply paint remover and then press paper over it, wait a little while and pull the paper off; paint and remover come off with the paper and go into the dumpster. Some marinas have to use this method when nosey neighbors or EPA is watching.

The absolute BEST way to remove layers of old bottom paint is to hire somebody else to do it.:D
I know, I know, you were looking for something constructive, I coulnd't resist. The F/G shop I used to work at used to do this - and I managed to avoid that work order every time !
