cough then die?

I have a 200 johnson on my fishing boat. At idle the motor will run for a LITTLE while,cough and then die out.it has new plugs and gas, anybody know anything about this or point me in the direction to check things out.

Did you check your fuel system?

My Johnson 150 used to do that, I looked like a fool docking it, and couldn't get into the locks either. Took the carbs apart, cleaned them (although they appeared perfectly clean), no rebuild kit used (stupid marina, 5 business days me butt!, I couldn't wait any longer to reassemble), and an entire season later it's still idling great.

Make sure you dont trim her up to high. She can not suck in the fuel.
