Hey my 1985 johnson GT 185 seems to bog down sometimes when im running down the lake. When i trim the motor up it seems to happen more often. The motor was rebuilt last year and only has 15 hours on it, the motor has some minor mods like boyseen reeds, polished intake, drilled exaust, bob's nosecone and low water pick ups, etc. I recently switched from sythetic oil to just normal oil but i cant see how that would do anything, can someone help me out here?

Have you done a plug chop while it's happening? If you ride it out does it get better or do you have to slow down to recover? I Ask cause what comes to mind is the floats in the carbs not being set right.

I dont have to slow down to recover it, the boat will slow down and i just keep playing with the throttle to bring it back up

who built the motor? did they richen it up for breakin? if so you might want to lean it out. im having the same problem but i know mine is caused by super rich jetting in there... it loads up and falls on its face.
