So finally I got everything together, the boat is shining, the “new” 2.5 EFI offshore, 322 brake horsepower on prop shaft, is rigged and ready to go, YEEEEEEEHHHHHAAAAA. The first couple of test runs with a 14x26 cleaver was very exiting. She pulls like crazy all the way up to 8000 rpm (then I chicken out). Boat is handling real well and GPS is showing <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/ /><st1:metricconverter w:st=101,7 mph</st1:metricconverter>. I just can’t wait to test with the <st1:metricconverter w:st=" /><st1:metricconverter w:st="on" ProductID="101,7 mph">101,7 mph</st1:metricconverter>. I just can’t wait to test with the <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" ProductID="28”">28”</st1:metricconverter> cleaver……So, after reading about so many people blowing over in mirages here on S&F I kind of wonder if anybody heard of a Mirage 4 seater with 2 persons upfront blowing over?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
I am new to the Mirage, and I just don’t know the limits of the boat yet. <o:p></o:p>
I usually ride <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" ProductID="190 mph">190 mph</st1:metricconverter> in a Kurtis 500, but that’s a whole different story. <o:p></o:p>
I am located in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">Sweden</st1:place></st1:country-region> and winter will be here soon….uuuhhuuuhuhh.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
So, any thoughts on this…..anyone??<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
By the way, Thank you Stoneman for the 2.5 wiring diagram!<o:p></o:p>

I weigh darn near as much as two people at 6'8" and 285 lbs. Believe me, it WILL blow over if not set up and driven correctly. The problem most people seem to have is they believe that flying the nose high is fast. It's not any faster, just dangerous. Drive that way in a Mirage and your an accident waiting to happen. Get the air packed and keep it relatively flat. There's a sweet spot there that you will learn to find once the boat is set up properly.
Flat is fast.

I'll second flat is fast. Last weekend I got the nose up a little during a race and the other boat pulled away from me BIG TIME. Being trim happy will hurt you.

As far as how fast can a Mirage 4 seater go........pretty darn fast with the correct set-up. I have ran 127 mph with a 30 cleaver in about a half mile. I'm sure there's more speed there with a 32 cleaver and some distance, but to tell ya the truth, I don't need to go any faster.
Just remember, a Mirage is not as forgiving as an STV. There is very little margin for error if the nose begins to lift. At speed they are much more sensitive to trim, which you will appreciate once you have some seat time and have learned all of the handling characteristics of the boat and how the hull responds to all types of waters and winds. I can't stress this point enough.
Learn the boat well before you try for any big top end numbers.
