So my dad just picked up his 18.7 Nitro with a Verado 150. First time out the boat takes about 8 sec to plane and doesent accept trim too well. After looking at the set up it has a 24p Tempest prop. So he took it back and asked for a 21p. The dealer said the boat need to go to a different shop so they could " Dial In " the motor with a laptop ????????????? I say the prop is to big and think the dealer is crazy. Has anyone else heard of dialing in a Verado ? Pleasse help me I thank you in advance:confused:

first of all back to basics..... what is the top RPM at WOT.... then we can go from there..... also 8 sec to plane sounds about right.... as far as accepting trim what do you mean... does it porpose, does it blow out, does it just not gain much....

The WOT rating on the motor is 6400 butt it only turnes 5500. You cant give it much trim or it starts porposing bad. The motor is set about 1 1"2 inched below the bottom. When you advance the throttle to full on take off it wont go past 3600 rpm till it finally planes. Something is way wrong dont you think

no that all sounds pretty normal. I think you might be on the money about the wheel bing to big, but i think the set up needs to be dialed in and proven.
