If you decide to do the crank call Cy at NEECA. He doesn't weld them up he just turns it and supplies the correct bearing.

Cy's number is 860-683-1317. I haven't had any cranks done but I know that T-Rex has is pretty pleased with it. I've had a couple of prop shafts done and it was great work and even better service.

I would not have an outboard crank welded. The weld will not be anywhere near as strong as the base metal (high carbon steel). A weld repair will not survive long against roller bearings. See the NEECA website for how they perform the repair and why grinding is better than welding.

I have a NEECA repaired crank and bearings in one of my 2.5's. I have ran it over 7500 rpm with no problems.

looking back at some of my questions i feel like a rookie . now i can answer them for myself , the 2.0 crank works great in my 2.4 , no mic checks i guess being a roller motor no need for mic checks on bearing surfaces unless they look worn . i look every thing over and it all lokked good . run the boat for the second time last week and it is running great. thanks for all the help and thanks to S&f now i begin a 2.5 liter project

Just put a 2.0 litre crank in a 2.4 bridgeport last year witht the bridgeport rods and bearings for a friend of mine.Motor has already logged quite a bit of hard hrs and runs great.Hydro

I would use the 2 litre!!!( If its good). I have had two cranks sent off in the past and repaired, and both failed within a year. If "CY" turns them down and can somehow match a bearing to fit, that sounds great. I believe that the guy I used spray welded the journals and turned them. That just want hold up. Good luck, J.A.
