Someone once told me that the Alternator on the 3.0 litre mercs were straight out of some car. I think he said it was a Mitsubushi or a Ford. Can anyone shed some light as to whether this is true or not?
Thanks,

Over at Simon Motorsports. He said that it is similar to a Chevette or something like that but not a straight bolt on replacement. Anyway, he sold me a used one for less than a third of what a new one cost and it works like a charm!! I pulled the old one and there was a huge char mark on the bottom of it--guess that 6000RPM constant running let the smoke out of it....:p
Oh, BTW, I saved a few hundred bucks by calling Simon but the call also cost me about $8k cause after talking to him I just GOTTA have one of his 3 liter powerheads.
