View Full Version : Tuff 28
Just wondering how the Tuff 28 was doing and what kind of numbers it was putting up?
JJB
Apparently it is going great. Run's a little better than 90 with 250's. Rides like a caddy, turns on a dime too.
Boat #2 is out of the mold and ready for it's I/O

Mark took my wife and I out in the Tuff 28 last weekend and you could not beat the smile off my face with a 2x4 !.
Once it jumped up on plane those 250 opti's suck you back into the seat and the sound of the twins humming together... man it was cool as hell. We hit 86MPH real easy. It really has a cool racey feel to it, you sit low in the seats, makes you feel like your in an Indy car.
It does ride like a caddy, but when you want to hop off the waves and play it feels light, like a 20' boat.
Next ride I'll bring my towel to wipe the drool off the dash !.

I am not talking to you!
I just saw the video where it showed 89 and change on the gps. I wonder what it would do with the new 300xs's.
What props are they turning....it's hard to tell in the video. Is the 28 stepped or have a pad?

its a pad
fine, here are some uncompleted pictures.
Here is one more 28, and the latest 21.... with one of the last 300X motors, the pictures don't even do the finish justice.

Rob!! you bought a 21?
No
Right now I am performance boatless, I sold the SRV last week. I still have all my motors and parts. I just am waiting on a hull. It will be a 2007 SRV, all kevlar infused. Though part of me wants to do a new Tuff 21 and a new Triad Rocket.

a new rocket would be cool, does the new Tuff have a owner?
yes, the Tuff was made for a customer.

Rob you sold you Challenger as well?
The green stuff is milfoil right? ;)
Sure would suck if they were unloading grass next to that pretty boat :p
sold the challenger last fall..........really regret that move!

What kind of Power will be going in that 28 I/O ?
looks like an Illmore 625, or a 525 merc
Any ideas on pricing ? Will they be sold as packages or just hulls or both ?

Certainly looks like they are ridding the lake of milfoil.
Sonar works, but not permanently.
Wow those Tuff's are sexy....Progression or Tuff? THat would be a tough choice.

Not really...they may be close performance wise..but the Tuff BLOWS the progression away in shear style. Everytime I see one I can't believe how smooth the boat is and how the lines just flow..and..I really like the red :).

I saw your old 21 Challenger for sale on hiway 11, north of Orillia last week. It looks real nice.

See thats exaclty where I think the dilemna comes in to play.
Construction seems very similar, performance is very similar, then you get to looks.
Tuff21 = Gentlemen's racer, smooth sexy lines. Classic good looks.
Progression 22 = Squared off aggressive get the hell out of my way because I am gonna take anything you dish at me looks.
Don't get me wrong, I hold both boats in very similar regards, but if I was in the position to make the choice, I am not sure how I would? To me it would purely come down to looks as both boats seem very similar elsewhere.
If one was in the market for a 28 foot single I/O i would think they would run into that same problem with a Pantera, Progression, and Tuff as well. At least I think that I would.
Good looking pictures....being a Florida boy on the Gulf I would love to see one of those 28's in a center console design.....just think, go fast and go fishing.....

Nobody's design is close to a tuff in styling. Plus, its build holds up to its name. The pepole who make them know what to build and how to build. Its like someone went out and contacted the best of the best to build a superior boat.
Tuff's all the way.
