i need some help with a 97 175 efi. i bought the engine blown up. i replaced the powerhead. ran fine for a while and now it will only run about 2500 rpm. it is bogging like it has a fouled plug or starving for fuel. the tach stopped working so i replaced both volt regs. still bogs. replaced the stator, still bogs, wont go past 2500. checked the fire and was all good and the spark was blue. this motor set up for some time because i also replaced the vap. sep. because it was so stopped up the el. fuel pump stopped working. what else can i check

The TPS can cause your problem.

Just had a 96' 200 EFI doing same thing. Wound up being a split in the mechanical fuel pump diaphragm. You say the motor sat up for a while, it's possible the rubber diaphragm dry rotted on you.

replaced that spin on fuel filter with a new one. checked the lines and they look okay. there was no restriction with the pickup in the tanks.

my 200 xri has a inline filter in the suction hose to the electric fuel pump, you cant see it, it is inside the suction fuel line and if you dont know its there you'll never notice it. you have to disconnect the suction hose and carefully push the filter out with a screw driver or something similar.
