Hey i bought a new boat and the owner was using amzoil sythetic. In all of my boats i just run normal castol, would the castol work fine or should i use the amzoil sythetic? The motor was rebuild and the motor is a 1985 johnso GT 185 with boysen reeds, blueprinted reed cage, drilled exaust, nose cone, low water pick ups, a few goodies. (ps i dont really run the motor that hard)

I personally would keep running what the previous owner had been running...

Either would work... If you don't turn the engine above the factory rpm rating for extended periods, a quality name brand TC-W3 will work fine and of course synthetic will also... I'd mix whatever at 40:1 and let'er rip... Good luck..

the mix ratio is more important than the oil type for normal running.fouled plugs vs ka-BOOM!

HI.Voodoos Rock the mix is 50 to 1 absolutely run castrol ,no problem snyntheyics leave less residue and carbon in cumbustion and ports esp. exhaust. But reg. [normal] castrol is also a good choice and in lower unit if you wish. have fun.
