My neighbor went gator hunting last night. One was 11.5 feet long, the other was 12.5! He said they never went farther than two miles from the boat launch by our house, and they saw hundreds of them eight foot and up.

Just something to think about this weekend at the Jungle Run.;)

You ever cruise the St. Johns between Lake Monroe and Mullet Lake Park during the week? I have never seen so many in my life.

I've lived in Florida all of my adult life, and spent many, many hours on the Suwannee, and I have never seen as many, and as big of gators as there is right down here by Edward Stone Park in Deland. I think the reason you don't see as many big ones in the Suwannee, is the boys like Debbie's brother keep them pretty well thinned out.

YA , What Mark Said !!! We swim and ride that end of the river quite often on Sunday, and you couldn't find one on a bet . But you go out on a week day and it's a hole differant story . If we could just get them interested in the the damn Sea Cows now we probly wouldn't mind as much . Rich Martin 018:D

geez, I know what 12.5 feet looks like, but that 2nd pic is wild w/ your neighbor in it to give it a sense of scale.
And I know, I'm a naive yankee - but what do you do w/ a gator once you kill it?

I don't know Wildman...that looks more like hugging. Are you sure you didn't just get the gator drunk to take advantage of it? ;)

When you get my age, you need a little excitement in life. I like to think I'm "getting back to nature"
