Started to rig the Q-Shot

Got the steering,shifter,kill switch,Harness and a few gauges installed so far.The rest I will document here through pics.Its not the fancyest riging out there but it will get me running again soon.Mostly used parts bought here on this site.Still need to mount the trim pump,battery,fuel tank and foot throttle.The jack plate and motor will get hung next week or the week after.

I will be filling the top with 4 small gauges and both sides with the tach and the speedo.I will only have the tach for now untill I can get the new white faced set of gauges I realy want with the GPS Livorsi speedo.It'll have a tach,temp and water pressure for starters.

No it aint done yet.Its hot as balls outside these days.Jeff Connely who works at Lightning Power Boats is helping me in the evenings after work a couple hours at a time.His rigging is outstanding plus he has all the tools and knowhow.:p

No Rich I'm not nervous at all.Its just that this hole 200 thing was the only way I could get back into the game at minimal cost.I found a killer modified,balanced,blue printed BP with all the machine work done and ready for assembley that has a lot more power than the stock 200 for almost nothing so what would you do?If I get this BP it wont stay on for long.It'll be a stepping stone as well untill I can get the 280 or drag power head I realy want.The other reason I wanted to start with a 200 is because In River Runner I could race at 1400 lbs.After my last two over weght sleds I said I would never add weight to race at 1600 lbs ever again.As it looks right now the FBI will not be there next year so I might as well put something on that will have more power and spin 9600 rpm's:eek: THATS RIGHT I SAID 9600 rpms.:cool: :cool:

P.S Allthough I might just put the backup 200 carb on anyway just to prove a point first:D

Rich I have a spare 2.4 200 long block(Mariner) with one bad hole.Do you think you or your son Slider might want it as a back up?Crank,(5)pistons,rods heads are all good.Just needs a sleeve and a piston $ 500.:)

*Flusher King,Actualy this boat has been painted but not because of a crappy gel job.Its painted because the deck Jack builds for these now has to be extended to match his sponson extentions so he actual builds another deck (rear) part in the deck mold and molds it in to go all the way back the extra 8" to match the new botttom.At that seem you have to blend it in with glass and then it needs to be painted.I also wanted it to be an exact mach to my Viper truck.He plans on building a new deck mold to eliminate this extra proccess as soon as he gets caught up with building new boats.:)

I gotta give a shout out to Jeff Connely.He is the guy doing most of my rigging.He has a mobile boat repair and custom rigging business called Connely Custom Rigging.For those that dont know who he is he is the Leed rigger at Lightning Power Boats and Johns son in law.He is a great guy and does outstanding rigging as well as small glass repairs.Working out of his truck its hard for him to take on big glass repair jobs right now.

It's all foot trim, the switches on the wheel are for cruising when he's got his feet up, and the trim on the floor is when taking a high speed run. :p :D :D

The trim on the wheel came with the used steering system I bought here on S/F.I also use them for trimming when standing outside of the boat like on the trailer or at the beach.
The biggest reason I use both is for "Two Staging the trim"so that when I am drag racing I launch with the 24 volt high speed trim on the floor then I use the turn signal style on the wheel for fine tuning the trim half way down the course with the slower 12 volt as not to get the boat out of shape too quikly;) Pertty smart aint I?:eek: :D

I had a moment or 2 lastnight while redoing a freshly rebuilt 3 ram trim pump that blew out an O ring that resembled that quote..... and 2 hrs after starting to clean the garrage i stil cant find the 24" crescent i threw through the window when it slipped on the tilt tube retaining nuts... causing more than 1 busted knuckel and waking every one in the neighborhood when the pain induced caused me to re write every book of profanity... so robIS IT DONE YET!!!!

I finally came up with reason why not to have a QSHOT over a LIGHTNING!!!:D

With the QSHOT yu wont be able to change the YR MODEL on the title if it take yu like 5-6 yrs to get rig'd out and in he water.. However if yu had a LIGHTNING yu could wait 5-6-7-8 yrs to get rig out and every yr LPB would still title it has a NEW model.

Guys it should be done next week.I will be getting my cut down mid from Marty Powells early next week I hope and then we can finish everything except the powerhead.I am picking it up as well next week from the machine shop and the rebuild begins then.I got the Jack plate hung and we are only waiting on the mid section and fuel tank.

Now the realy bad news:

I am very sick with PNEUMONIA and the doctors told me that I could have died in 2-3 days if I had not gone in to get checked out.Its been very rough this week and I am very glad to even be alive to tell you the truth.Its bad but I am on four different medications right now and it looks like things will be okay.I thought it was just a bad flu or bronchitus but the x-rays showed different.The doctor was amazed that I was still standing.:eek:

Anyway as soon as I get well Jeff and I will finish her up like I said sometime next week.Cheers :)

Allright guys NO ITS NOT DONE YET!:D
Well yes but no.I have the powerhead getting rebuilt as I type this.Should be done and installed some time next week.All the rigging is done though.
I loaned out the gearcase to a freind and should have it back tomorrow night.I still want to change all the gauges out to white Livorsi's with GPS speedo so these are just temporary and mismatched.Here is a pic of the motor and jack plate.The rigging tube on one side is a little long so I still have to trim that a bit.The midsection is another one of Marty Powels awsome cut down 15's from a 20" straight leg.It looks better than a new Mercury part.:)

I talked to the guy asembeling my p/head today and he told me he couldnt get to it this week or next.At this point I just dont care because I am going to Jasper next weekend and then South Carolina the following weekend for my grandads 80th birthday party.We agreed that it would be done by october 28.That will give me one week to break the motor in and get the bugs all worked out and then I gotta learn how to drive a real light weight tunnel(its been a couple years sinse I last drove a hot boat)and a week after that is the last FBI race of the season.Do ya think I could have her dilaed in enough to race by then?

Ok gang heres the latest.
The Boat Is Done !!!!:p The only problem left is the poppet valve is leaking and needs a rebuild kit and I cant get one untill monday morning.I ran it on the hose yesterday for 30 minutes and she sounds and runs great.Everything is done and the new Tillman drag yammy is here as well.Have a long day of work monday so I wont get to run it through the break in untill after work.
