I have a 1999 225 Johnson on it with a 6 in set back(jack plate).I turn a 24 raker to 73 mph on the speedometer with a light load and 65 to 70 with two people and gear. I also have a 25 DAH renegade that will run 67 to 70 with 2 to 4 people in it.I am going to try a 26 Raker in hopes to hit 75 mph.

My brother runs a 279 FS with a 150 evinrude. He runs a jack plate (6in) and turns a 20 Raker in the low 60's with two people and gear. He can get some more out of it with a 24 DAH Raker but he has to run it all the way up and the hole shot is really slow.

Bsprout, since you got a 12" plate you can send your lower unit to Titus to be noseconed & that'll allow you to run the mota higher. Try as many props as you can after that & you'll find something that has a sweet spot. You can probably see 70 in your rig when setup just right but limited by that OMC rev limit & gear ratio. Thoe OMC's got killer hole shot though.

Here's a good forum for you to get some good info o bass boats. They have one for Stratos there also. Very knowledgeable guys when it comes to bass boat setups.

I do have a radar gun and it will run 68 to 72 with one person and a light load. The stock renegade prop was terrible all I could get was 65 on the speedo with no bowlift. It was definitely worth every penny getting it rework by DAH.I can raise the motor up till she runs out of water with no problems. When she gets to 72 plus it likes to walk with the Raker.
What I have found on the Fish and Ski boats is you need a prop with alot of bowlift.Since we sit more forward than a bass boat we need all the help we can get.I am no expert by any means. Joe

My boats is 1998 and the motor is a 1999. No work on the motor just in good tune. She turns about 6000 rpms when its at 73 on the speedo.I run my motor so the prop makes a roostertail before it gets a bite.If you were closer I'd bring some props for you to try and beer to drink.Since I am in Wi that isn't going to happen. If I were you I'd borrow a 22 and a 24 Raker and see if you can get the nose up in the air. When you do the speed should go up. I did test drive a new 289FS with a 150 rude on it 15 years ago and I could not get 55mph out of it.
