Well I have noticed wehen screamin across the lake, the guages dont quite get viewed as often as they should. So
HOW DO YOU, hook up a big Red light at a given temp for water
and also one for fuel pressure ?
I am interested, Keep your explanation simple so I can understnad it. I get cornfuzzed easy.

You could use some car parts to do it. They make warning lights and pressure switches. They are relatively simple. Two wire hook up. I looked at jegs.com (http//:jegs.com) and found one. There are more in the catalog. Summit probably has them too.
Good idea!
You can get gauges like the digital Avenger II that will do warning lights to preset conditions. I have wired mine to a car alarm horn because I don't even see the lights a 100-MPH in heavy chop.

There is a circuit that uses a transistor fired at a certain voltage for something similar. I'll see if I can find it. Its on this site and on the web.
US1 you have your warning lights in the wrong spot. Put them in your helmet like a science fiction movie or put them way up on the bow, in your line of sight.
This was going to be a trim gauge but now a warning system. When you get down to it you only need one light. If anything goes wrong its not going to matter what, your slowing down and checking the gauges-A race is different.

Gaffrig makes just a gauge. I just ordered a water temp gauge with a red light last week. They also have a seding unit that moniters 3 different items, not sure off the top of my head what all is available.

When ya get it ro yale, please update, Techno, I love that idea, want to make another one. John, ype I was going to use a roadrunner horn, Need a lloud one to hear under the helmet, or maybe wear ear bud head phones, that will wake you up.
It would be the whip the have the information scrolled to you through AUDIO. through the headphones it would scroll through preset script... water temp is xxx, Water press is xxx, head temp is xxx egt left is xxx
O well star wars for da outboard...rock on

I don't know what they're called but the super electronic engines that already monitor the engine for merrcury warrentees are now getting special gauges for them. Since the engine monitors itself some one thought up the obvious idea to hook up to this system.

Techno - The industry standard for the gauges and stuff driven off the engine computer is NMEA 2000. Mercury version is SmartCraft.
