Not sure how it works elsewhere but....................here in Illinois, you can title the trailer as HOMEMADE. All you need to do is have a serial number, so get out those metal stamps and give it a serial number. Then go to the secretary o state and title it. Gordie Miller

Michigan ,Is the same as Illinois I have built trailers for differant things and you just apply for a home built title. Just ask the sec of state how you do it in your state, I am sure there is a way. Like Gordie says get your self some metal stamps.

 Post their name!
You should be able to reg. your trailer as home made, just don't try to reg. it first as factory built. They ain't stupid!
My two cent's!
Runs pretty good from what I understand..... for having a white motar on it anyway....:D

I FORGOT TO MENTION I PICKED UP A 2000 ALLISON AND TOWED IT OVER 600 MILES TO DELIVER TO THE GUY, I BOUGHT THE BOAT FROM.
I DID MENTION RETURNING THE BOAT , I DON'T THINK HE WANTS IT BACK.BUT HE ASSURES ME THE TRANSOM IS SOLID , I KEEP LOOKING, AND IT IS STILL ROTTEN.
SINCE THE BOAT WAS MISSADVERTISDED, LETS REMEMBER IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE AN OUTBOARD BOAT! I DID SAY I WOULD SETTLE FOR MY MONEY, FOR FUEL BACK. WHICH I THOUGHT WAS REASONABLE.

You got it! What size is it? 18' or 20'?
I know Jim Youngblood. He designed the TX20 in the late 70's. Later made an 18' version to race. They were primarily jets. Very few were outboards that he produced. He lost the molds when his coke head partner stole them. He is/was in the process of building another mold from a 20'. But he is old and stuck in his ways, and will probably never finish it.
Jim held a record in BFJ at 147mph in the quarter in the 18 foot version. My 18 footer was claimed to be around the 350# mark when new!
I have an 18 that I dug out of a junk pile. Redid it all. Not that bad of a job really. It runs great. Going to have it running in about a month and can post some numbers then, but before it was running a little over 90. Need more prop.
Money and fuel? Where are you?

O.k everyone. I sold Jim the Youngblood Tunnel. I owned the boat for nearly a year and ran it with a modified 2.5 Merc on it this year. The guy before me had an 2.4 Merc on it. I have did some research on the boat to the origianal owner and he said he had the boat special ordered in 1985 with an outboard on it. The boat was never a jet. Maybe at the factory they took a jet hull and closed it up . I dont know. But I do know for sure the boat has NEVER been a jet. The transom issue is I ran the boat up until November of 2001 with a Merc 2.5 on it and the transom is not rotten. When I changed boats It was put under my shelter with a cover. The boat DOES NOT have any stress marks on the back or any cracks at all. If it was rotten at all it would have never held the 2.5 modified Merc that was running 96 mph GPS in the 1/4 mile. I sent many pics to Jim inside and out b/c I didnt want any confusion on the boat. I have bought things on the net several times and have gotten screwed and I sure dont want to do business like that. I am a very honest person when I sale something.
Jim did do me a great favor by picking up my new allison SS for me and binging with him and I REALLY APPRECIATE it. I sold Jim that boat for way below value b/c I was needing to sale some things to make some other deals. BUT The deal we had was he was to pick up the boat for that price at my place. When he agreed to pick up the Allison for me I was gonna meet him to help with the trip. I drove 600 miles to Kinley N.C and met him with the Youngblood. He looked at the boat and agreed he liked it. We swapped boats and everything was o.k. If he would have said he didnt like the boat I would have gave him his money and rented a vehicle to get both boats back home, but he said he liked it. I come home and 3 days later he emails me saying I sold him a jet boat with a rotten transom and says I can come get the boat in Maryland and return his money or help him out by returning part of his money. Since then he has said he would like for me to return his traveling money which is 272.50 for his trouble.
But what about my traveling expense. He was to come to my place the whole time. I met him there because he was nice enough to pick up my allison for me.
I will return his 272.50 If this board thinks I should return his money then I fine I will. BUT I met him half way I drove 1200 miles round trip, he agreed he liked the boat when we met, and then 3 days later the boat is no good. I will leave it up to the board because I want to be fair about this deal.
What does everyone think??????

On the paperwork. Jim knew upfront on the boat that in Georgia we do not have to have titles on boats or trailors. I have sent him the registration papers on the boat in the mail on Teusday. I had left the house at 11:00 p.m that night to drive there and left the papers on the table. He should have received them by now.
He emailed me and said in Maryland it costs them 400.00 to get a title for a trailor. I beleive thats bull****. Hell why not just buy a new trailor for that cost. In Georgia we can go and get a tag for a trailor for like 18.00. Why 400.00 in MD???
He knew all this upfront before any money changed hands.

Might have been a splash, although JY was still building the boats. California Performance has a set of spash molds. I think there is also someone on the east coast that is/was making a splash. Some one in OK making the TX19.......You can tell a good thing when it is copied so much........:D
Did it have a pad? Cut outs in the center pod?............
Hell, I will pay him the gas money.....Don't care if the trailer has a title. Don't need one in La.......
18' or 20'? Where??????
Need some info!

I had inqured about buying tthe boat & Brad was very quick to detail any problems with the boat.
If the transom, etc is bad I honestly believe that Brad had no clue or he would have been the first to let you know.
Even if you do have to do some work its a hell of a deal for a classic & totally bad ass boat.
As far as the money for gas, If I went to pick up a boat that was for me or my use, the cost is there regardless if you would have purchased the boat or refused it.

This was a used boat and it sounds like it was inspected before money changed hands and later somebody changed their mind. To late. Buying a boat like that as a BUYER you have to check everything or you get stuck, he didn't have to give you the money it was done freely so now the boat is HIS at HIS own expense. I met a man in Indiana to buy his boat I live in ILL he lives in Tenn. I looked at the boat it was a fair deal paid him cash and left with the boat and trailer, about 100 miles later coming home I get a flat tire I paid for the new ones because when you buy used u buy as is. My opinion

Used items are sold AS IS - unless other wise stated. If the item in question had been shipped to you site unseen I might have a different opinion, but your had full opportunity to refuse to purchase it when you saw it (and hopefully inspected it). As for the jet/outboard issue as far as the seller knew it was and outboard model (He had an outboard on it).
NO REFUND AT ALL.
Just my opinion.

I agree! A Deals a deal! If he had a chance to look at it before he gave you his money, then it's his good or bad! If it was lined with gold and mirage didn't know it, would the new buyer have given him half back? I dought it!
Anyway's, We all buy a lot of stuff off of here, and most is sight un-seen! And we just have to trust the board to stop a guy from srewing people too many times.
But he had a chance to look it over and make up his own mind. So in my opinion, A deals a deal!
My two cents again!:p

Tell me where I can come pick the boat up. I will be glad to come get it and take it off your hands. That way you won't have it to look at it and kick yourself in the A$$ for buying it.

Last laborday I bought a baja with a2.4 Merc. I had to pay to borrow tools and start the motor, on intial look at the boat it seemed to be in good condition. But in getting it home and after finishing motor work I discovered the deck braces had come delaminated. I highly doubt I could return the boat and I still have 18 payments. Point being if you buy used its up to you to discover problem before money changes hands. I have dealt with various people on the board and have been satisfied or thrilled with the deals. I also thank each and everyone I have dealt with. Delawarerick

I agree with the previous comments. It is a used boat, you got to ask all the questions you wanted ahead of time and were satisfied with the answers. You even got to look at it in person and I assume you could have passed on it then. Unless the seller lied in response to your questions I would say it is yours.
I am in Virginia and we also have a home built title available. Here we just go to our DMV, they give you the form and a VIN or serial number to attach to the trailer. You then call your local or state law enforcement officer who comes and verifies that the VIN/serial number has been attached to the trailer. You then take the paperwork back to DMV and get your title and tags. Costs the same as regular title and tags. Not a big deal.
