1978 Johnson Stinger vs. mid 1980 Johnson's

I have a question for somebody out there who knows their OMC/Evinrude/Johnson boat history more than myself. I have been searching for a late 1980's OMC 15" short shaft 75HP motor for quite awhile now for my Alaskan riverboat. I recently came across a 1978 Johnson 75hp Stinger motor and was interested in how this motor compares or differences between the mid 1980 models? I will be putting a jet unit on this motor, so if that's something to consider in differences, please help me out. Thanks for the information.

Basically the same motor

I was just interested if these types of motors compare in terms of cylinder configuration and overall similarity. I won't be doing any type of race/modifications to it, just need the 75HP 15" shaft and a jet to put onto it. I appreciate the help.
