95 CLE merc Lower unit

Two Question for you Merc guys.:confused:

1) Is the factory nose cone part of the original aluminum mold for the lower housing and free of body type fillers?

2) Can you strip & sand surface to bare aluminum surface as newer lower units are?

80's too course 100 or 120 would be better. the new sportmaster cases are paint not bare alumium. bare al oxidizeds and its open to Corrosion.
