I drove 2000 miles to pick this baby up not really sure why yet but its in really nice shape. Its 1 of only 200 made. Can't wait to try it out. 1979 Vintage Magnum 17ft tunnel hull with 115 15inch Mercury. Heres a picture from when I was on the road.

Neat boat. Just be VERY careful with it. Those boats are real blowover risks at any speeds high 60's and above.
Just a comment on the motor that you might find useful if you start trying to swap parts around: Mercury only made shortshaft 1150's for one year, and didn't make a whole lot of em then. It was 1972 ONLY and they had the old powerhead bolt pattern at the base, the same as the 70 & 71 1150's which WERE NOT available in shortshaft. The same year, 1972, Merc came with the 1400 which had the newer bolt pattern, so most of the high perf boaters opted for the higher horse engine, even though it wasn't available until later in the year.
The reason I'm boring you with all these statistics is, if you run into a later inline 6 powerhead, like a 150, it WILL NOT fit on your mid section if it REALLY IS a shortshaft 1150. Of course if it's a later shortshaft 150 that somebody just retrofitted a 73 or newer 1150 powerhead on, then everything's okay as far as parts switchin' goes.

You might also consider reinforcing or knee bracing the transom. Years ago, I had a couple of friends that ran these boats with a Tower of Power (135's and 140's). The transoms flexed and ultimately fell apart in both cases.
Thanks for the info. :) :) :)
the magnum is a great boat, have fun and be safe. Like raceman said, they like to fly.

Parker,Where are the Streaker molds.I want another one.
There was a Hustler a couple miles from me years ago.I stopped by to look at it and he told me it scared his wife and she "forbid him to put it in the water" but he didn't want to sell it.Then he thought he could sneak a little ride while she was at work so he took it to the ramp and drove under a bridge she was crossing heading to work from lunch.  What was he thinkin??When she came home she asked him what he did that day and he ran the golf game on her:eek: He said she put his dinner on the table and walked back in the kitchen, through think back door, squirted lighterfluid all over the seats and deck then lit it.She walked back in and told him his boat was burning. I was riding by the day after and he had the burnt seats sitting on the ground so I stopped to check it out.He told me what happend and he was selling the boat, she was shakin her head yes the whole time.
Cool boat but she said it was possesed,It rode nice untill it jumped up and tried to throw her out. What Raceman say's.

Must have been around 1970, I was still riding my bicycle ...
With as many of these that keep showing up, I find it hard to believe there were only 200 of them made. Maybe only 200 a year. There is one up here in my neighborhood (Edgewater, MD) and several around Baltimore.

the missle molds that he original purchased from don anrrow , hurt and killed so many people , he finally cut them up , good thing id say ..i remember as a kid , rabco rigging them with 2.4s and we couldnt build enough , they were going like hot cakes .....thar was the chit at the time ....:)

Herb, trying to hide under Sean's moniker;)
Do I get to take her for a spin since I tried to keep ya awake while driving:p
Like RM said, she's a true tunnel, shallow at that, and when she packs too much air, she wants to to take a look at where she's been
That ain't a bay boat, sooooooo, Greenwood Lake :D :D
