Guy was talking about selling this boat for $4K, then a family member said he would take less. Its an '87 and the GT150 is too. It seems to run fine and must run near 60(?) But I'm thinking its not a fast hull, though it does have a notched pad. Its a BR and the pass seat swivels, ski locker, etc., nice sleek looking boat. Driver seat is worn with a few tears, rest is ok but little fade on it all. Gel looks pretty good. Dash faded. It does have some cracks in the splashwell on each side. There is kind of a smaller well in a bigger well, and cracks are where it gets smaller in the corners at transom under top bolts. I think it has a problem in there, but its not moving that much yet. Whole transom flexes a little when I yank on motor, just enough to see it so its still fairly solid...but thats a heavy motor and the boat is low profile. I'm thinking it will need work but can be run for now. Trailer is good but a roller. He said he needed a part under the flywheel to make the tach work, don't know if he fixed it or not.

What you think is good bottom dollar for this? Motor has to be worth something, though someone has repainted the cowl with so-so results. I don't want to mess with it unless its a deal since its not a great hull for what I want. Motor would be good for one of my other projects but then boat is worthless. He skis with it a lot. I'm thinking he might go to three on it in a while but even then how good a deal is it with the cracks in the corners? Boat is nice enough to fix transom if one wants to get into it themselves, otherwise you know those cracks will haunt you if you go to resell it later.

Not a bass boat but looks a lot like this one: http://ww2.boatus.com/classifieds/AddDetail.asp?Boat=18565

I personally have never seen a transom visibly flex by yanking on the motor except on my 14' Spectrum rowboat. If you are able to do that with the power of one person, what is 150 hp doing to it every time you hammer the throttle? No wonder there are cracks. If you are good at glass work and rebuilding transoms, then maybe, but at that point it's basically salvage value because of the time and money you'll have to put into it.

The motor is worth whatever you can get for a 20 year old V-6 that runs and needs a new rectifier.

I'm not a pro, but I saw a few boats like that while looking for my boat. If you buy it at the right price then who cares, right? Definitely not a keeper tho, if it'll get ya through a few years then good stuff, but there's lots on here that looks better.

He fixed something under the flywheel and told me it had a separate winding for the tach that was bad, but everything else worked. I'm not that familiar with OMC V6s, I just said ok. Oh; he had it fixed, he is pretty clueless about that stuff. I rocked the motor pretty hard when it was trimmed up on the trailer. It moves a fuzz, but only cracks are in those corners and they been there a couple years at least. I don't see it move in near the lower bolts, just the whole thing at the top flexes just a hair...but I know what those cracks are from.

I guess I'll look for prices on that motor, I know he didn't put many hours on it and has had it over 6 yr. To me its about worth what the motor is but motors (V6s and 10hp in particular) are not cheap up here. I'd guess it would be ok to run for 2 seasons or more if kept dry....but it looks like a big motor on that transom. I don't feel real trusting of it. I told him about two year ago the transom might be going when he asked me about the cracks...or it could be stress cracks common to that hull. Either way it dont look good.

Hey I could offer to trade him the bayliner/force:D Transom and block are pretty new. LOL! I saw a couple just like it with weak transoms for $2K, what a laugh they were. Yeah, I figure if I got it cheap enough its faster than the balyiner I run now at 43gps, then again I am not sure I want to put another transom in yet. I guess I might for a V6:) even a white one. I think the gt150 is a better OMC right?

I was wondering if anyone here might have run one and could compare it to something like a checkmate/etc. The pad is fairly wide 10" or better if I remember but has a very slight vee in it. He was running it hammers down. Its got no cone or foot pedal or anything either. If the transom were fixed I could sell it here in no time, its a nice looking boat. But right, pretty hard to pay yourself for that job.

I'm going to guess an '87 GT150 is worth $2K or less since I can find 200 Mercs for ~2K. He might have fixed the tach thing, I don't know. I'll look into it next time I see him, and see if he is getting desperate or not.
