I Am Runnin A Vector With A 2.4 Merc. Have A 1.87 Cle Lower. 8" Set Back. Would 6" Be Better? And Run The Motor Jack Plate With Propshaft Centre Line With Pad. Or Should It Be Lower ? Run A 28 Mazco Re3 ,runs 7000 Rpm, And Gets 80 Mph On Gps, Any Thing Can Do To Go Faster,? I Heard Of These Boats Runnin In The 90's :d

Hi, 6" setback is what has been advised to me and usually the norm on these boats. You could goa little higher on the plate if you can, at least see what happens!
What type of 2.4 is it? If it's a 150 your doing ok, but if it's a bridgeport you got plenty more! Any mods? and what?
How is the boat set up, full interior? centre steer race trim?

I'm in the process of setting up my Vking so I'll be checking in on this one too;)

Best of luck, Alan

Looks like you have a lot of prop slip. My Vector with an old 225Merc would run 80+ on GPS with a 28" Mazco RE4 at 6300rpm. I ran my propshaft about an inch below the pad with 4" of setback. If I jacked the motor too high the prop would slip too much. Use as little setback as possible with a Vector. Remember that a Vector's bottom is quite different than a VKing's.
Hope this helps

I have a 79 vector with an 81 225 merc. I used a 2:1 gear set and a bobs low water pickup with 6 inch set back and even with the pad .I filled in the concave in the pad and made it level for 3 feet. ran a 30 merc chopper . The boat has no interior, center steer, dual push pull. The boat handles great runs mid 90s .I tried a 1:87 cle and lost 5 mph and the boat didnt handle as well.
