what type of fluid for jackplate?

just wondering what are acceptable fluids to run in hydraulic jackplate?

I run transmission fluid in mine. Never had any problems.

I had one that was sticking up. I drained what I could out and someone here said use ATF. I put some in and kept running it and it started working right. I cycled/drained it a few times until it was good color. Has worked good since.
