I have a ? for you. I have always owned Allison's, but recently sold mine, and thought about trying a STV or a mirage. But I have been told by several people that they will blow over backwards.
I was told by one guy that owned a mirage, that he blew over backwards at 101, and he stated he did nothing different than he usually does it just went over for no reason, He said thank god his Buddie was riding with him, because he pulled him off the bottom.
OK FORGET THE TOP PART OF THE ? i FOUND THIS ANSWER IN A FORUM ?, BUT IT WAS NOT THROUGH SEARCH!!!!
I will take comments in my PM if you don't wont to answer out loud.
" which one is a better boat "
I'm new to these boats, and there is only one in my area, and its a mirage.

JPHIL I went to blow overs in the search and the last time it was posted was 6-30. I do not get to visit this site everyday and read every forum. But if you don't have anything to say don't reply.

If you can safely run an Allison without hooking it, then you can safely run an STV or Mirage without blowing it over. Driver, Driver, Driver..................
I have no Mirage experience but a fair amount of STV experience and never came close to blowing one over. Its a fact that the Mirage runs more bow high then an STV. Draw your own conclusions.
You may find a tunnel boring to drive after running an Allison unless your running 110+ of coarse.

I strongly disagree with the guy who said that his Mirage just blew over for no reason. Most anytime any boat blows over it's because of driver error. He had to be doing something stupid to blow it over with two in it. I bought a Mirage in January, the first time I ran it I touched 100 mph. Rode and drove like a dream. Have run it plenty of times since and haven't had it try to blow over. You don't want to trim one like you do an Allison, they don't like a lot of trim. Also don't run it wide open into the wind or you might get a wild ride then. Just my two cents though. I'm sure their will be plenty to disagree with me.

both drive differently. STV runs flatter with forks lower.

I have plenty of seat time over 100 in a Ski Racer with no even remotely close calls. Most of that was in the 110 to 115 mph range. Two differant boats neither one ever felt like it wanted to "fly". 6 years ago I cracked 100 in Kissimmee for the first time and since have had 4 people over 100 in the drivers seat. The conditions were perfect and I worked the trim, but they drove. Gator Mike 111 , a female friend 108, Lucas D 115, Casey 110 +.
Jusbrun has been 125+ with no problems in a Ski Racer. Strong wind or rollers big enough to get the front up are what will blow you over.
I guess what I'm saying is at the rate of speed most will top out at with two differant boats I don't feel the Mirage Ski Racer has any tendancies to blow over. As far as STV goes I have never driven one . I have seen several of them here well over 100 in conditions they shouldn't have with no blow overs. Mike

Thanks for the replys.
I want to try a stv, any advice on this boat, like a certain year, or model I should buy.
Cleanstream, The guy that told me that, was from the flordia penninsula. He was wanting to buy my SS due that he had went over twice in a mirage. He said he was tired of seeing people go over backwards in that kind of boat. He said the conditions was a late afternoon and the water conditions was perfect, they were running in a group of tunnel hull boats, when all of a sudden he went over, the guy that pulled him from the bottom was running next to him. He told him he went at least 20 feet in the air. I guess it was a good thing they were running in 6 foot water. Where I live at the water is 60 foot deep and there is current, nobody would find me until two days later "floating".

After seeing parkers antic's I would thought the River Racer was un-flippable ! I've personally never heard of any Ski Racers or River Racers blowing over. I think the Wildcats were the ones that you heard of blowing over. Mike
John,
most any boat on here can go over if you do the wrong things. I almost fliped my whaler when I was 12 jumping waves, I have been completely verticle without any warning as a passenger in a hydrostream, and had an oh sh*t moment in my stv. None were the boats fault, all were driver error.
an air entrapment hull is designed to have air lift the hull as you increase speed. The faster you go the more of the boat comes out of the water. You have to respect that, get seat time, and don't drive beyond your ability. Eventually you get to know your boat, what it will do, and what you should not do. I drove my stv with a 200 for a year before going to the 260 getting to know the boat. This is not my first tunnel either.
personally, I think the stv is a good choice since the hull seems to run flatter than the mirage at speed. Nothing against the mirage, I love it too, but IMHO the stv packs its air differently.
Just be safe and get to know your boat. Just my $,02,

What kind of stv is this. Iwas told it has 2 seats up front and a bench in the back, and its a 91 model.

That would be a Pro Comp . Nice boat , no matter what you choose in this genre of boats , they will all go over 100 mph safely , within reason , barring mechanical or driver malfunction . I believe a generalization can be made that excessive trim is the catalyst for a blowover . Again ........ be careful in your experimentation .
