Hello all :)
I currently don't have a boat, however I grew up around performance boats tho. My father bought new in '77 (and still has) an 18' Caribbean/Hardin Marine jet with a 460 Ford and a Jaccuzi jet drive. In the somewhat near future I plan on picking up a boat of my own, I plan on going with an outboard of some type, been researching Hydrostreams :)
Also I was wondering if there are still drag boat races on the Grand River in Grand Rapids, MI....I used to go to them in high school (late 90's) and always had a great time, couldent really find much info while poking around online.
HEy Storz, welcome to Scream and Fly.

Thanks for the warm welcome...I'm sure I'll be lurking around for a while
Welcome Storz!
The Grand River doesn't have any current races in Grand Rapids anymore that I am aware of, but some of the guys here on S&F test there in the evenings after work, at Riverside Park. I lived on Spring Lake and ran the Grand River from there up to the gravel pits, that's a nice piece of water.
Use the search feature here and type in keywords "Hardy" "Michigan" and "Allendale" and you will find enough west Michigan stuff to keep you on line for weeks.
Have you been to Hardy Dam just north of GR? You will find all the fast boats in the region there as you'll see in the above searches. It is beautiful clean water with almost no shoreline homes.
Also, nobody in the midwest should miss the Rumble on the River this August 18,19,20. Check that topic out too.
Again, welcome. (and hurry up and get an outboard)

^^ Thanks for the info, I've been to the Hardy Dam area, just never with the boat. I might have to come out there sometime and check out some boats :)
By the way, your Dad's boat looks like it's sitting in the living room so I think you'll fit in here O.K.

Haha thats was actually the garage, but might as well be the living room. He has had the boat since it was new in 77 and its his baby, people cant belive its as old as it is when they see it. Unfortuanly right now my parents live in South Korea (dads and engineer for GM) and wont be back in the country for another 2.5 years, so the boat is sitting in storage. I asked him about using it and his response had something about "prying from his cold dead hands" ;);)

Welcome aboard. This is an awsome board. I've boated all my life and even though I've only been on this site a short while, I've already learned a thing or two.:D :D
