Merc 175 Efi wont start any more!

I have a 94 Merc 175 EFI/XRI and has been getting very hard to start cold
for a week now. Today wont even start at all. Checked fire(good) fuel pressure (42psi) looked for any thing unusual but could not find any thing.
But what I did figure out is that disconnecting the temp sensor on the port side of the engine that runs to the ECU and then turn the key ,it will fire right up with no throttle at all! Could this be the sensor gone bad and not telling the ECU to richen the fuel mixture upon cold start? If any one could confirm this are have any other suggestions , please do so!

you hit the nail on the head. sounds like the sensor.

Thanks for your reply! Ordered a new sensor today and should be in
Wed. Once I install, will try it out then reply with an update.
