Question about flushing the motor

Hey guys

Just got a quick question about flushing the motor. Normally ive been flushin it the normal way with the earmuffs but I just got a replacement manual for the motor and it says I can flush it using the flush port on the back and I dont even have to start it to flush it. Now this will def make my life easier as I keep the boat on a airdock at a marina but if it doesnt do as good a job then Ill just keep using the earmuffs. The motor is a 97 Merc 250 Efi btw. Sure thats fine several of the engines have ports with water hose fittings to attach and back flush the engines without using the water pump to force water through the system and have to crank the engine.
