How about Sunday, July 23rd??? Maybe meet at Pecks lake just south of the St Lucie Inlet.....or county line sandbar (north of Jupiter Lighthouse)??

I may be free on the 23rd. Lots more room to run in St. Lucie than in Jupiter.
Shoot me an email mattgent@aol.com if anyone wants to go out on the 23rd.

was beautifull but rough due to traffic.
We were told to try Fort Pierce next time. I checked it out on my way back to Vero and it looks very nice.
Wide and long with islands in the middle of river to break up waves/wakes/wind.
There is a ramp/park right there and that is where I told Dave that I saw two boats running the other day.
I would like to do some testing and that looks like a way better area than the park at St.Lucie.
Dave and I passed a gorgeous Hydrostream Ventura II w/a Bridgeport passing under A1A. Was one of the first I have seen. Most are Actions which was a splash of this boat.
Dave, I washed the boat on the way home and I feel much better:cool: Not as ugly as I thought.
P.S., I have a couple of small bumpers we could use to mark a course if anyone wants to line up and do some drag racing :)

Its not a splash, the bottom of an action (even the 16) is WAY different than the ventura, so is the deck and splashwell area... thats why an action will run mid 1-teens and a ventura has a hard time breaking 100.

It all depends on where the wind is coming from. It is pretty up in Ft. Pierce, north of the bridges (we go camping there), but if its blowing out of the north or south it will be rough there too. Its hard to run between the islands as it gets really shallow. The trip from Ft. Pierce up through Vero to Sebastian is more protected than the rest and makes for a fun day run.
In St. Lucie if its blowing out of the north head up the river near the Roosevelt bridge as it goes east-west there.
For just testing the fresh water canal behind my house (C-23) is good. Shielded from wind but relatively narrow. However right now they are dredging and the ramp is closed.
For a small boat its always going to be a little rough around here, one of the reasons we bought a larger boat.

Mark, we sure could have used a navigator for the area :o
Matt, great info. Thanks! I've looked at the area by Ft.Pierce and it looked good both times and is 10 mins from my place.
But a canal behind your house
Bobby, thanks for setting the record straight. I was going to say that I had been told by two people that worked at Stream and Action (didn't want to use yours or your dads or the other peoples names :o ) that they were splashes. Had buddies (you know both) that had an 18 and 19 and both said the same thing and sure looked like one to me.
But I ain't nearly as smart as Jim so I figure it's easier to keep on lettin him teach.
When do you want to do Hirams or Squid Lips??

MMMMMMMMMMmmmm ... ok , it's a Modified Splash ! Just like Spectres are a slightly modified splash of different size Skaters and Jupiter 31's !

yea no one is as smart as you gator  That "splash" statement was obviously a troll for me or some of the other action boys. so, whatever you say. I was obviously dumb enough to fall for it.
all the Venturas I have seen don't have the reverse chines on the outside, or the section that angles down to add aerodynamic stern lift. "gull wings" arent as deep on the Action either. Not to mention the strakes are way sharper on the Actions than streams were. Obviously they are a modified ventura, but not a "direct splash" (in other words, a greased up and non-modded ventura)
Jim (know it all, second class splash owner)

I had a Hydrostream Verado comp model (16 foot) that had reverse chines - although they are not really 'reverse' chines - they are just hooked chines.
I did see an Action "Vector" many years ago - and that was a splash for sure. :)
Either way, let's not argue about this please.

We may come up and party Friday night then tow the boat back up Saturday to play.
Tight on funds but that's a hop and a skip from here.
Bobby, got any wheels left?? preferably big ass cleavers:cool:
Mark, didn't make it up last night. May head up to scout trucks today and go back to close deal tonight if I find one.
P.S., nothing against Actions (am actually a big fan), merely stating fact.

Bobby, are you bringing the kids??
If not (they are of course welcome but we only have one extra bed so they'd be on a couch) why don't you and the Mrs. come and stay at our condo instead of paying for a room at Hirams?? 10 miles straight south and we'll be there anyhow for transpo. I'll call yah tomorrow.
Mark, did Squid Lips tonight. Freagin incredible! Approx. 1/2 mile north of Hirams and is on stilts over the water. Is more of a restuarant with a bar than the opposite @ Hirams.
Hirams food is a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 and Squid is a 5! All water front tables with open walls/views (zip up windows) of water.
Cheryl had grouper stuffed with crab, I had shrimp/crab ravioli!!!
Didn't know whether to eat it or duimp it on the ground, take off our clothes and roll in it ;)
Also, there are many small islands directly in front of both places for shelter/protection and calm water.
I will bring my beach chairs and props to do some playing and take over one of the islands Saturday:cool:
Will bring my video camera too if anyone wants to play.
