FICHT motors

just purchased another boat, it has a 1999 175hp ficht evinrude motor,
dealers in my area, Greensboro NC do not want to work on it, and I have heard several horror stories about this engine.
any info about anything concerning this engine would be much appreciated

Don't believe everything you hear about the Ficht. There are a couple of members over on your side of the state, I'm sure one of them will know someone who will work on it for you should you have a problem. There is also a wealth of OMC knowledge here. You came to the right place.
