O.M.C.Vernatherms (thermostats)

What does everybody do to keep the thermostat seats in the heads? Mine blow out even when glued in with Yamabond adhesive. I've started puting light springs between the cap & the vernatherm & they still blow out. With a stiff enough spring to hold the vernatherm on the seat & the seat in the head the motor runs too hot ( heading for 180* ). I'm tryin to build a fire in this thing & sure can't do it at 125*. I'd like it to run 150* to 160* on both banks if possible.

Get the old style from the 86 motor that has the metal ring, they will work in heads up to 1993.
