The original trim/tilt hoses are leaking and have dry rotted and need replacing. This motor has the remote mount pump. Both hoses are around 6' long. They are preformed in the mid section of the motor and are going to be hard to change. I have some extra Seastar hydraulic hoses. Can I use these? Or do I need to get the original type hoses. Engine S# is 5806152. If I can't use the Seastar hoses, who can I purchase the Mercury one's from?? I tried Mercury Parts Express, but the S# did not work.
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
Rick

Hi Rick, welcome to the site.

For your hoses, contact Billy (Hoser on the forums here). www.morelandhose.com (http://www.morelandhose.com). He'll get you what you need.

Place close attention to your routing of your new hoses and use the little hold-down clamps that hold them in the grooves. I learned that one the hard(read expensive way) way. have some one raise and lower the motor slowly while you watch to make sure they are not gonna get pinched in the process. If you cant find the hoses you need Sierra sells aftermarket ones for a lot less than mercury. Alot of the vendors on here have acess to sierra parts. good luck, john

Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I had a local hose company make 2 hoses today and installed them tonight. Hoses are industrial grade 3000psi. I had them made 18' long so that I could locate the pump in the front of the boat to get some weight our of the back as well as quieten the pump. Took a while to get the oil filled into the system, but so far seems to work great.

Thanks again. I really enjoy the site!!
