I need help figuring out what props I should use for my boat. I have an 87 Scarab Excel 26 thats weight is 4500 pounds and I put a Stainless Marine twin outboard bracket on. I'm mounting a pair of Evinrude V8 3.6 motors on it and need help with the props. Any advice would help a lot.

A 26 with V8's, cool. My 30 with V8's likes the 24's I have now. With your lighter weight, you will likely start in the 22-24 pitch range. The old Mach propellors work pretty well too.

Kevin at R&R Prop Shop in Henderson, NV has a pair of 24 Machs in stock. I just tried them out 2 weeks ago. 702-564-7502.

Thanks! I was running Mach 1 20's. Just went to Bravo 1 24's. Bogs out of the hole, so I'm having R&R drill in some exhausts reliefs. The Mach 20's went 68.6 on GPS and the Bravos went 69.8, but the Bravo's have about a 6-7mph faster cruise at RPM. I also know the motors are way deep, so that extra diameter of the Bravos should help once I start bringing them up.

I have talked to a few people who have suggested the Rev 4s on our hulls, have not tried them myself yet..just Mirage Plus and Mach sterndriver 4 blades, Mirages about 1 Mph faster but less cruise and more speed needed to stay on plane but I"m not running quite your speeds (63.7 best) what HP are you running?

sky high with lwp's will do the trick. ill bet you the choppers are faster than any of the props you've tried. we have a 30 with twin 260's running alot faster than yours with v8's..... try the choppers you'll be happy.

I do hear the choppers run hard on top, but don't come out of the hole worth a crap. Mine are way deep though - like 4" below the bottom at 24" setback. They need to come way up.
They are supposed to be 430hp each, Evolution Marine Stage 5's. I don't really believe it, especially with only 115-120# of compression.

Reaction19,
You have a 30 with 260's running better than 70? Hmmm. What kind of setup are you running?

Just for comparison, I have a frind who just repowered his 30 with 300 Yamahas. Last I heard his best speed was 64 with 23 mirages. Motors are mounted deep on twin outboard bracket. I dont beleve he has messed with the set-up much.

When all of you mention how deep or how high you are mounting your engines, how do you determine this? And for comparison, how deep is deep and how high is high?

Engine depth is normaly a refrence to the relation of the prop shaft to the bottom of the hull. On the 30', with 300 yamahas, I dont know the exact engine hight.

Is Evolution Marine still around?

Right now, I'm on 24" of setback (distance from the engine clamp bracket to the transom) and the motors have the center of the propshafts about 4.5" below the bottom. That is VERY LOW for performance. I hope to raise them at least 3 inches to see how it changes the performance by this winter.

KEITH I WAS WONDERING ARE YOUR MOTORS TURNING IN OR OUT I`M PUTTING 2 275 MERC`S ON A 24`CIG BUT NOT SURE IF PROPS SHOULD TURN IN OR OUT,ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT?????

Mine turn out. At some point, I'll try the other way, but that's how they are setup now.
