Well the hot summer was taking its tool on the performance om my slightly moddified 94 200 xri. last winter I had Jay smith cut my heads and had Rapair reprogram my ECU for 200 promax specs and a 7200 rpm limit. My best speed last winter was 78.8 mph at 6900 rpm with a 26 chopper.

Hot sun and a few more hours on it and now I am down to 74.5:o . I could'nt stand it , so 12 days ago I took it apart and shiped it across the country in pieces:D . I got it all back today, and got the engine mostly back together. I sent the injectors to Brucato, ordered a 1" intake spacer from SST Marine, had Jay Smith cut .050" on the front half, he did a little rod slot work, and got Tony Dukas reeds(old reeds were chiped and worn out). If I am faster, I wont know who to give credit:D . If I am slower, I can only blame my self:rolleyes: .

Any bets on top end changes:D :D .
Dont be shy, faster or slower:rolleyes:
I will post back tomorow with results.

I think you will notice better hole shot and mid range pull but I doubt you will get any more MPH out of it then your previous best of 78. Thats my guess.

Replacing the broken reeds was a good idea. The rest, a waste of hard earned money.

Hope it runs 100+.

LT

PS: actually cleaning the injectors is a good idea, if they needed it.

The injectors were out of balance, and the screen were black.

LT,
I hope it runs 100+ also;)

For God's sake, it's a 200 with stock porting, why the hell are you turning it over 6500 RPM? It doesn't make jack sh%# for power above that range unless you're doing it just to string it out at the end of a 800 foot drag run. Damn, put a 28 on there and pull the rev's back down into the motor's peak powerband. You'll probably see speed gains, because the motor will likely have the grunt to pull the 28 over 6500 as well.

Good luck with it...

Pyro, I got a 28 chopper, I turned it last winter 6200 @ 76mph;) . It aint my fastest, or quickest.

That prop is a piece of sh#% if it slips that much. The revs are just right, but it's too much slip. Big ear? Should be for that boat. Maybe somebody did a butcher job re-work on it. Get another 28 and try it again. Try some other props as well. The Trophy Plus and Tempest Plus thru-hub props are awesome on vee hulls like yours, and they run well jacked up high.

If your 200 could pull a 26 to 6900, then you SHOULD be able to pull 6500 with a good 28, plain and simple, which would bury the 80 mph speedo. :D

I edited the post about the 28......

It is an older 28p big ear chopper, that has been worked over the years(by who I dont know).

These are the props I have run, and their best speeds, and rpm(from memory, so dont flame:D )
24p merc ET, could'nt go over 50mph, the rev limiter(Wife onboard;) 4500rpm)
25p trophy 7000rpm@ 77.7mph
26p big ear merc chopper 6900rpm@ 78.8mph
27p srx 6400rpm@ 74.5 mph
28p big ear chopper 6200rpm @76mph

The better numbers were last winter
